I’m not the biggest party animal, so I’m not out there every weekend drinking alcohol at parties. But I do drink alcohol during Christmas and New Years’ festivities. I want to make sure I help my skin a little after I had a good party and some alcohol. This blog post is perfect for the party animals as well as the people who drink once in a while, it’s always a good idea to help your skin to revive after a party.
I’ve gathered a couple of tips to revive your skin, so you won’t damage your skin too much after a fun weekend. Wondering how you could help your skin a bit? Then keep on reading!
What to do to revive your skin?
I can imagine you don’t like the idea of coming home from a party and having to clean your face before you go to bed but this is so important! Sweat, makeup, and smoke (second-hand, too) are a dangerous mix to leave on your face, especially while you are asleep. SO we’re not going to do that! Grab your makeup remover and face wash to cleanse your face, then apply a moisturizing night cream.
If you drink alcohol, eat salty foods and drink sugary drinks during a party (which is what most people do obviously) causes a dehydrating effect on your body and skin. You’re probably not drinking enough water either so that’ll make your skin look lifeless and dehydrated. You might recognize that day-after-the-party dryness you feel on your face. So make sure to keep your skin moisturized, not only right after the party but also a couple of days after. To make sure your body has enough hydration as well, make sure you drink lots of water to hydrate your body from the inside too.
This might sound like a no-brainer, but make sure you’ll sleep enough. After you had a night with less sleep, try to relax the day and go to bed not too late. That’ll help your body get your normal sleep schedule back. Sleep deprivation affects not only the skin but also the body in many, many ways.
Grab a coffee and then give your skin a little caffeine boost too. Caffeine helps constrict blood vessels and is a good option after a night of drinking since alcohol dilates blood vessels. Alcohol can make your eyes look puffy so keeping an eye cream with caffeine close to you is recommended.
Take 10 minutes to give yourself a facial massage while applying your eye cream and moisturizer, and your skin will be so thankful. Gently massaging the products into your skin will boost circulation, help rejuvenate skin cells and make your creams more effective. Extra tip: To give dull, tired, puffy skin a boost, keep your creams in the fridge — the cooling sensation will work wonders.
