I have been doing more and more research on ethical beauty, such as cruelty-free, vegan, and clean beauty. I’m very interested in this subject and I think it’s important that I use my platform to advocate for important matters like this. If you want to take your ethical beauty routine to the next eleven, then check out these epic high-end and 100% vegan makeup brands.
Recently I wrote about 20 amazing High-End Makeup Brands that are cruelty-free but I wanted to highlight 5 epic brands that are cruelty-free ánd 100% vegan as well. This is for the people who want to buy not only cruelty-free (products are not tested on animals) but also products that don’t contain any animal-derived ingredients or by-products.
The brands I mention in this post are cruelty-free and 100% vegan, this means that all the products they sell are not tested on animals and vegan. Some cruelty-free brands may offer vegan-friendly products like Urban Decay, Too Faced, Tarte, and ColourPop, however, they also sell products that contain animal-derived ingredients or by-products and in order for brands to make it onto this post, they must only make and sell vegan products.
5 High-End and Vegan Makeup Brands
Since I personally love high-end and luxury makeup, I wanted to highlight 5 of my personal favorite cruelty-free and 100% vegan brands. These brands use premium ingredients, formulations, and packaging that justify the higher price point. If you’re looking for affordable vegan makeup brands, please check out this Vegan Makeup List by Ethical Elephant.
1. KVD Vegan Beauty
I don’t think this one comes as a surprise since the name already shows us that the brand is vegan. The brand, once created by Kat von D who is an animal activist (now fully owned by Kendo), sells amazing high-end makeup products. My personal favorite KVD Vegan Beauty products are: Tattoo Eyeliner in Trooper & Go Big or Go Home Mascara Trooper Black.
2. Cover FX
Cover FX is certified vegan and PETA certified cruelty-free. Before I did my research, I didn’t know this brand was vegan so it was a nice surprise since I love the products from Cover FX. My favorite CoverFX products are: Mattifying Primer + Acne Treatment & Monochromatic Blush Duo.
3. Tower 28
A fairly new beauty brand, Tower 28 is cruelty-free, vegan, and a clean beauty brand. This means that they use non-toxic, non-irritating, good-for-you ingredients. Not yet fully based on my own experiences, since my Tower 28 order is still on its way, but I’ve heard amazing things about their products. The products that caught my eyes the most and which I’ve ordered are: BeachPlease Luminous Tinted Balm in Magic Hour and ShineOn Lip Jelly in CHILL.
4. Milk Makeup
Milk Makeup is a New York City based, aka my favorite city ever, and is also a cruelty-free and vegan makeup brand. All of Milk Makeup products are also free of parabens and contain eco-conscious ingredients that are good for our skin. My favorite Milk Makeup products are: KUSH Mascara & Lip and Cheek in Werk.
5. Haus Laboratories
Haus Laboratories is Lady Gaga’s makeup brand and it is also cruelty-free and vegan. Haus Laboratories is exclusively sold on its own website and Amazon. I recently received my first ever Haus Labs order and tried the products so you can expect a review coming very soon! My favorite product for far is: Le Monster Matte Lip Crayon in Power Move.
Thankfully, more and more brands are coming out with vegan products and since we, as customers, are really interested in cruelty-free and vegan products, brands need to hop on this if they want to sell their products.
Buying cruelty-free and vegan products don’t mean you have to give in on quality. It’s being more aware of what brands/products you’re supporting and still getting quality products in return.
These 5 brands aren’t the only vegan brands out there, I just mentioned these brands because I personally love them and know they offer great quality. There are more vegan brands, in every price range, thankfully!
Are you (not purposely) buying products from vegan makeup brands? Let me know in the comments! Oh and don’t feel judged if you don’t, I’m not here to judge anyone’s shopping habits.
