Lush Shampoo Bar

Lush Shampoo Bar Review ⋆ Beautymone

The reason I wanted to try a Lush Shampoo Bar, is because I want to reduce my use of plastic. The shampoo bar attracted me because it’s solid and doesn’t come in a plastic bottle. Moreover, I bought a tin as well which perfectly fits the shampoo bar so it’s easy to take it with you while traveling. The Shampoo Bar is supposed to last long as well, especially when you keep it in the tin.

The Lush Shampoo Bar I choose is Jason And The Argan Oil. This one sounded like the best fit for my sensitive scalp and frizz.

Journey to a haircare happy ever after with Jason And The Argan Oil. This little slice of luxury uses soothing rose absolute and agar gel to calm your scalp while hardworking glycerine and argan oil tame fly-away hairs, leaving them irrisistably soft. We’ve been a fan of argan oil since using it in our luxurious Ro’s Argan body conditioner and use the same floral scent here to perfume your hair. The perfect everyday pamper for stronger, shinier locks.

Lush Shampoo Bar Review

Lush Shampoo Bar Review

Before I actually tried the shampoo bar, I was wondering how to use this. Sadly I couldn’t find this information on the Lush website. So I still wondered if I had to rub the shampoo bar between my hands or rub it right onto my hair. Let’s say I tried both ways for reviewing purposes.

First of all, the shampoo bar smells very good. Rubbing the bar between my hands after wetting the shampoo bar and then applying it to the head might be the easiest way to apply the product. However, I did try wetting the bar and apply it straight to my hair as well and in the end, this works too but I prefer rubbing it between my hands.

It lathers up really nice and after washing the product out, my hair felt really clean. However, my hair felt pretty rough, as if it stripped down all the natural oils, afterward which made styling my hair a bit tougher.

Once I brushed my hair and styled it, my hair looked good and felt soft. It still was a bit frizzy but I used it just once so results might pop in after using it a couple of times.

But then after washing my hair only once with this supposed to be calming shampoo bar, my scalp got irritated and itchy. What a bummer! I haven’t used the shampoo bar again since I’m pretty sure this isn’t the one for my sensitive scalp.

This experience made me hesitant to try another Lush Shampoo Bar. I really love their bath bombs and I love their mission but at least this shampoo bar isn’t working for me personally. In the end, I think I want to give another Shampoo Bar a chance since I still want to reduce my plastic use.

If you have a sensitive scalp just like me, I wouldn’t recommend the Jason And The Argan Oil Shampoo Bar.

  1. The best lush bars for sensitive scalps are Jumping Juniper and the Dandelion one! But be aware that daily use my dry out your hair … great for your scalp though!

  2. I have heard of these but never tried them myself. I always wondered if they would easily lather up enough to effectively wash your hair. Maybe it contains some dyes and/or fragrance that is irritating your scalp! Did you try following with a conditioner? I’m thinking that might help with the dry hair issue. Maybe they need to produce a conditioner bar if they have not yet done so!

    1. After your comment, I decided to try the shampoo bar again because I didn’t use a conditioner last time. So this time I’ve tried it and it does make a differences! However my hair still felt a bit stripped off. Not sure if that makes sense lol. Thanks for the tip though because it definitely felt a bit better than the first time! I believe they indeed sell conditioner bars as well!

  3. I’ve used Lush’s bar shampoo on and off, my dad used to love it. I don’t know if they are still available but I used the blue one with seaweed and the yellow one with jasmine (used to love the scent of this one)

      1. I like it, the only thing that bothered me a bit it was the lack of scent. That’s why I started using the yellow one instead but both were great!

  4. I’ve been seeing these everywhere online and was wondering if I should give it a go. But I got a sensitive scalp, so in a way I’m glad I stuck to normal shampoos. Thanks for the great review, if you ever find one that works for you definitely let me know 😀 xx

  5. I have been very curious about these, mainly for travel purposes. I fear that it would dry out my hair too much. It’s already on the dry side. I love their mission too. Thanks for your honest review.

  6. THANK YOU for giving such an honest review. I’m looking to try a shampoo bar and Lush was the first result on Google. I wanted to read an honest review first before spending my money on something that wouldn’t deliver. I LOVE that your review was so honest about your experience and it was truly really helpful. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

  7. Myself and my girls use the honey lush shampoo and it’s worked really well for us. I like there is no plastic involved. I may be daring and try a different scent next time!
