Even though I’m going to talk about the best hair masks today, I’m going to be honest here, I literally neglected my hair for a couple of years. Here, I said it. I wasn’t taking care of my hair at all and everything I could do wrong (which I didn’t know back then) I did wrong. You can imagine my hair was so dry and damaged. I started a hair care journey and discovered the 5 best hair masks for damaged hair. Curious to see which hair masks I’m talking about? Then keep on reading!
I think the biggest reason for my neglecting my hair was my mental health. I had so much going on already that my hair was last on my to-do list. Moreover, when I was really young I never had to do something special to my hair except for brushing it and it would still be healthy. So I wasn’t really used to treating it either. This all together plus me starting to dye my hair (I mostly did highlights) wasn’t the best choice I’ve ever made lol.
Since I was getting more and more into makeup (I’m talking about like a year of 4-5 ago) I was also getting more into taking care of my skin, hair, and body. I started researching (for example, check out this ELLE article which I liked reading!), looking for hair hacks and how to treat my sensitive scalp, and eventually buying products. One of the things that helped my hair recover, was hair masks. So I would love to share the best hair masks, in my opinion, for damaged hair!
The 5 Best Hair Masks
This is definitely one of the best hair masks, if not the best. This is my personal favorite one and it’s almost time to repurchase it. My hair got its shine back, is super soft and healthy-looking since I’ve been using this mask. Truly recommend it!
Another great option is this IGK hair mask which I’ve been loving as well. It’s a newer one in my collection but definitely one of my favorites. My hair feels really hydrated, easy to comb through, and just healthy when I use this one. I love it!
I’ve heard a lot about Moroccanoil so I had to try their products and so I tried this hydrating mask. I really like it and so did my hair! It made my hair soft and less frizzy! I think this is a great option.
This mask is perfect for fine to medium hair but OUAI also has a version for thick hair which I think is nice. This mask provides hydration fights frizz and repairs damage for smoother, healthier hair. It’s everything I’m personally looking for if I want to treat my hair properly.
Gisou is a pretty new brand on the market and not priced as affordable but a lot of people have been blown away by the brand in general. Gisou Honey Infused Hair Mask is an intensive nourishing mask enriched with Mirsalehi Honey formulated to hydrate and replenish hair while improving its elasticity, shine, and health.
I personally use a hair mask once a week (or twice a week if my hair is really dry) and conditioner every other time I wash my hair. The conditioner I’m using right now is the OUAI Smooth Conditioner. After washing it, I like to apply the IGK Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm to give it that last bit of hydration.
