This beautiful, high-end Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold highlighter palette is finally a part of my makeup collection. I tested this beauty out to see if it’s worth the high price point and I also looked for some highlighter dupes in my collection.

The Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold Highlighter Palette is probably one of the most well-known highlighters besides the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter. And I’m so late to the game when it comes to this highlighter palette. I think it’s the price that held me off for a while but I finally decided to buy it.

I bought it right in time though, because I just now saw that the Bar of Gold highlighter palette is discontinued on the Charlotte Tilbury website! I actually didn’t know that this palette would be limited edition/discontinued and I’m wondering why it is though.

Charlotte Tilbury Bar Of Gold Swatches

Of course, I had to test out the bold statements on the website. Is this Bar of Gold highlighter palette truly magic? Is it worth a high price point? That’s what we all want to know right? Well, I have the answers!

Let’s first start off with the fact that this highlighter palette isn’t super blinding. I would describe this as a natural glow. I personally like how this looks on the face since it looks like this is your own glow instead of a highlighter.

If you prefer a very blinding highlighter, you are not going to like this one. The Bar of Gold is buildable but never reaches that extreme glow. But it also means that if you like a more natural-looking glow, you’ll love this Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold highlighter palette!

This palette is for light to medium skin tones, as I think the shades will be too light for darker skin tones.

I was scared I couldn’t pull off the darkest shade, Bronze, but I can. Especially if I combine it with Gold. The most natural shade for my skin tone is Pink Champagne.

I agree with the statements about the lit-from-within glow and the ‘wet’ look. I would describe the Charlotte Tilbury Bar of Gold palette this way myself too. I love how this highlighter isn’t laying on the skin or accentuating my pores. It has a skinlike finish and is very smooth and soft looking. I have no complaints!

Even though I love the shades and the formula, I’m pretty sure there’s something similar and less expensive on the market. Kylie Cosmetics French Vanilla is very similar to Gold, Melt Cosmetic Stargazer and Milk Makeup Lit are very close to Pink Champagne and Persona Cosmetics Zuma and MAC Cosmetics Always One Jump Ahead is very similar to Bronze. Just to some up a couple comparisons/dupes.

  1. This is gorgeous! Just learning about the true ins and outs of products, since I’m also just learning how to do my makeup. Thanks for sharing!

  2. How beautiful is this palette?! I’ve never tried Charlotte Tilbury’s stuff yet, I keep meaning to try her foundation. One day I’ll get round to it. Great post x lanalikes.com

  3. This highlighter palette is unreal. I love blinding highlighters but I also love the softer glowy ones and I think they’re more flattering, too. I find the same thing with my Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette because the shimmers aren’t glittery but soft, glowy and extremely flattering. If I didn’t own so many highlighters, I’d 1000% get this one!

  4. Absolutely love this review, I have used the liquid highlighter by CT before and loved it but wasn’t sure if a powder would suit me, however, you’ve sold it to me! Going to pick up one next time I’m out in town.
