The Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms fit the trends for this year perfectly, as dewy, glowy makeup combined with skin-loving ingredients are really popular! You can tell a lot of brands are trying to hop on this trend and implement them into their products, just like Charlotte Tilbury.

They recently came out with the Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms that include hyaluronic acid and c-peptide for intensely hydrated and fuller-looking lips; at least, that’s what they’re promising this lip balm does! I put these Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms to the test… are they any good? Let’s find out!

8Expert Score
Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balm
The packaging is not my favorite at all and looks/feels very cheap, and I hate that it’s non-retractable. However, the formula grew on me; it’s still quite thick and sticky but not as bad as I first thought they were. The finish makes me love these Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms, as it is such a stunning, high-shine, and glossy finish!

First of all, I’m a huge lover of anything hyaluronic acid, so it’s exciting to hear that it’s infused in a lip product and got me interested right away. The Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms are supposed to be as nourishing, and conditioning as a lip balm with the color pay-off like lipstick and have a dewy finish.

I’m so here for makeup with skincare ingredients, so of course, we’re testing this formula out! Keep on reading to find out my somewhat shocking review!

What Is The Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balm

The Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balm is a hyaluronic-acid-infused formula that provides the hydrating power of a balm with the color payoff of a lipstick for a pigmented, dewy lip look and is available in 10 different colors. This lipstick balm formula was created to leave lips looking plumper, smoother, and more hydrated while giving them a happy glow. It glides on with a nourishing, cushiony, dewy-soft gloss finish and features a high-performance, hydrating color your lips will love.

The two Happikiss lip balms I got are:

  1. Pillow Talk
  2. Crystal Happikiss

Key Benefits

Based on the Charlotte Tilbury website, these are the key benefits of the Hyaluronic Happikiss Tinted Lip Balms:

  • Ingredients leave lips looking plumper, smoother, and more hydrated whilst giving a glow to the lips.
  • Hyaluronic Acid is a hydrating ingredient for plumper, smoother-looking lips.
  • C-Peptide is a miracle ingredient used to help maintain the youthful appearance of the lips. It firms and reduces the appearance of fine lines.
  • Super-soft Polymers are designed to care for your lips.
  • Glossy Ester is a high water-holding ingredient that gives lips a high-shine effect. It moisturizes lips, leaving lips looking glossy and dewy.
  • Hydrating Butters is a natural hydrator for the lips with impressive replenishing and nourishing properties.
  • Passioline ‘Passion fruit seed oil’ Butter: sustainably sourced ingredient known for its replenishing and conditioning properties.
  • Glossy Pigments create a high-shine finish with medium coverage.

How To Use

  1. Gently twist the base anti-clockwise to apply a little at a time. Store in a cool, dry place.
  2. Line your lips with Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk Original to create a fuller-looking pout.
  3. Glide onto your lips for a high-performance, hydrating color your lips will love.

Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balm Swatches & Review

First of all, I literally despise the packaging. It’s nothing like the normal, luxurious Charlotte Tilbury packaging at all. It’s made out of plastic and just feels very cheap. Moreover, you have to twist the bottom to get the product out, which I also think feels a bit cheap, and when you twist it up, there’s no going back. Hyaluronic Happikiss is non-retractable. On top of that, packaging like this always ends up being messier instead of cleaner, but this could be me.

Onto the formula. At first, I hated the Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms. It felt heavy, thick, sticky, not comfortable or balmy at all. On top of that, they weren’t long-wearing at all. After an hour or so, they started to fade already – even without eating or drinking. I was disappointed because this is not what I’m normally used to from Charlotte Tilbury. I threw them at the back of my lipstick and didn’t touch them for months.

For some reason, I felt the sudden urge to retry them again just a couple of weeks after months of not touching them, and all of a sudden… they weren’t that bad? To say that I was shocked and surprised is an understatement. I would have no idea what changed or if I changed for this sudden change, but the formula wasn’t as bad as I thought at all. I still don’t like the packaging at all, let that be clear, but the formula isn’t as gross as I remembered it to be.

Actually, I kinda like the Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss formula now. Is it still a bit sticky? Yes, it is. Is it still on the thicker formula side? Also yes. However, I don’t hate it. It’s actually quite comfortable and not that greasy on the lips. The finish is what’s drawing me in every time, though. I absolutely love the glassy, high-shine finish! I also like that these are quite pigmented for a lip balm/lip gloss type of formula.

Both the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Balm in Crystal and Pillow Talk look amazing with the Pillow Talk Lip liner beneath, and it seems like the lip liner is making them longer-wearing, at least for me. They didn’t fade as quickly as they did the first few times I tried them months ago. But it’s still a balm/gloss, which means that they’re not that long-wearing either; I would say 2/2.5 hours is the maximum, then they start to fade. If you eat or drink, you might need to touch up afterward. Not bad, though!

Alternatives

  • Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Balms: The Tarte Lip Balms are quite cheaper than the Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Balms, the formula feels less sticky and thick, but they do have less pigment.
  • Summer Fridays Lip Balms: A real lip balm, with just a tiny bit of color payoff, but truly one of the best hydrating, nourishing and comfortable lip balms are these Summer Fridays Lip Balms! If you’re in need of a good, lightweight, and nice lip balm, you need these. Compared to the Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms, these are non-sticky and way less thick, which is what I prefer in a lip balm personally.
  • Tower 28 ShineOn Milky Lip Jellies: My favorite gloss formula ever, as they’re so comfortable and so glossy. They’re one of the most lightweight glosses I’ve ever tried, and they’re not sticky at all. I would really recommend checking them out!

Final Verdict

The Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms and I had quite the adventure together the last couple of months, but I’m happy that I gave them a try after literally hating them first. The packaging is still not my favorite and looks/feels very cheap, and I hate that it’s non-retractable. However, the formula grew on me, it’s still quite thick and sticky but not as bad as I first thought they were. The finish is what makes me love these Charlotte Tilbury Happikiss Lip Balms, as it is such a stunning, high-shine, and glossy finish!

  1. Omg they sound terrible, I’ve tried Crystal Happy Kiss but it wasn’t so bad on me, I do like sticky balms though 😂
