I normally wouldn’t pay $37 for a lipstick at all. Yes, that’s the price of a Pat McGrath Labs LuxeTrance Lipstick. But during their Black Friday sale, I was able to get 4 lipsticks for just $10 each! I mean, that’s a good deal right?! I have been testing them out for a while now (after I was scared to use them for like 2 weeks) and I’m sharing my thoughts and swatches in today’s post. Are these lipsticks worth the high price tag?

I’ve never bought a lipstick this expensive. I mean, I got them for an amazing deal during their Black Friday sales. But still, they’re worth 37 bucks. I was literally scared to use them for about 2 weeks because I didn’t want to ruin them lol. But in the end, I realized I bought them so I can use them and not as a museum artwork.

I have been using them for a while now so I can give you my full in-depth review, thoughts, and opinions about these expensive Pat McGrath Labs LuxeTrance Lipsticks. I was so curious to see if this high-end lipstick would be better than a drugstore one. Is there something magical in the lipsticks that’s worth the price tag? I wasn’t sure before I tested them out. However, I’m going to spill the tea today!

The Shades

As I said before, I bought 4 LuxeTrance Lipsticks. The picture above shows you which 4 I’ve got. The shades are called:

  • LuxeTrance Lipstick in the shade Realness (Light Rose Nude)
  • LuxeTranceLipstick in the shade Donatella (Beige Mauve)
  • LuxeTranceLipstick in the shade Lavish (Mauve Rose)
  • LuxeTranceLipstick in the shade Profumo (Neutral True Pink)

Pat McGrath Labs LuxeTrance Lipsticks Review

I have to start off by mentioning that the packaging is absolutely stunning. I think this is the most beautiful lipstick packaging I’ve ever seen. It’s a bit heavy which makes it even more luxurious looking. I love black with golden details a lot. It’s chic and expensive looking. The lips detail is in my opinion super cute and a lovely, personal touch to the packaging. I would recognize the packaging from a thousand miles so marketing wise this is also very smart!

Pat McGrath Labs LuxeTrance Lipsticks Swatches

All 4 shades are very beautiful shades. I tried to buy a bit of a variety of shades instead of 4 nudes and I think I did pretty well. All 4 shades are very wearable, but Donatella and Profumo are both a bit darker and brighter.

The lipsticks have a créme formula which I really like because it doesn’t dry my lips. Because of their creaminess, they tend to last a bit less long than a matte lipstick. However, they are still long-wearing. After about 3-4 hours the color starts to fade.

The pigmentation is very good, one swipe and you’re done. The swatches below are one swipe so you can see what I mean. The texture is creamy and I just love how the lipsticks look on the lips.

I think my favorite shade is Realness so far. I love a rosy nude kinda color. Lavish and Profumo are both a bit out of my comfort zone but I do love them both a lot. Donatella is a perfect nude which I always love.

But, are these lipsticks worth the $37 price tag? Even though I love the texture, formula, packaging, and colors, I still think $37 is just a lot of money. I think a lot of the money goes into the packaging and it’s definitely beautiful, but in the end, we are buying a lipstick for the shade and formula. I don’t think the actual colors and formula are that spectacular to be worth $37.

If you have some extra money to spend and looking for beautiful lipstick? I would definitely recommend them. If you’re not having this luxury, don’t you worry, you’re not missing out on something revolutionary.

What are your thoughts on the Pat McGrath LuxeTrance Lipsticks? Have you ever tried them or do you think they’re too expensive?

  1. I haven’t tried the PML LuxeTrance lippies but I have tried (and LOVE) the glosses. These sound so lovely and my fave shades based on your swatches are def Donatella & Lavish!!

  2. These are so pretty! I have a lipstick obsession, and Donatella needs to be in my collection lol I’d be interested to see if anyone has found a dupe for these!

    1. I have a lipstick obsession too so I feel you on this lol! I just searched around a bit and found out that Very Victoria from Charlotte Tilbury is pretty similar to Donatella! Since that one is also a bit pricy, I looked for another dupe which could be Velvet Teddy from MAC. Hopefully, this is helpful! 🙂

  3. Wow, these are beautiful shades. I can’t imagine spending that amount of money but I also understand you get what you pay for , so the quality must be pretty great!

    1. I never thought I would spend that much money on a lipstick but I’m glad they were discounted! Otherwise, I think I wouldn’t purchase them. However, it’s definitely true that you get what you pay for though.
