How I Use MyUS.com To Quickly Ship USA Orders To Europe Without Any Problems

As a European citizen, it’s sometimes pretty hard to get products from the USA shipped to us. Some brands don’t ship to Europe or only particular countries in Europe, other brands do ship to Europe but you have to pay a huge shipping fee and custom charges. And then we have the GDPR law, which makes it even harder to order from US websites. Because of this law, we’re not even allowed to visit websites like the Sephora US and Ulta. BUT today I’m going to explain in detail how to order makeup products from the USA to Europe with the use of MyUS.com.
Yes, you heard it right! I found out how to order products from the USA to Europe, even brands that don’t ship to my country yet (such as Milk Makeup and Glossier). I live in the Netherlands, which is part of Europe and the European Union (countries in the European Union have corresponding laws/agreements so we all have to deal with the GDPR law for example). This blog post is for all the European people out there who need to hear this. This might also work for people living somewhere else than Europe, for example, Australia. But I haven’t tested this because obviously, I don’t live there. Feel free to check it out yourself if you got curious!

How I Use MyUS.Com To Quickly Ship USA Orders To Europe
There are other companies that provide the same services as MyUS.com does, however, I’ve never tried any other company except MyUS.com so I solely talk about them in this post. I’m not saying other companies won’t work, because I just don’t know. I don’t feel the need to try them because I’m satisfied with MyUS.com. Create An MyUS.com Account
Step 1: Sign up with their easy online registration form and instantly get your own MyUS address. It’s different than a PO box since some companies don’t ship to PO boxes. You don’t have to be worried about this, the address you get isn’t a PO box.
Step 2: Decide whether you want to go for a free membership or a paid membership. If you want to order from just one store and ship one package, the free membership is perfect for you. If you want to order from multiple stores and ship multiple packages, the paid membership is a better option. The Premium Membership is $7 monthly or $60 and contains a free trial. If you’re planning on shipping a high volume of packages then the Business Membership will be best fitting to you. The Business Membership is $10 a month.
With the memberships comes different benefits, which I’m showing in the picture below. I personally have the Premium Membership which works perfectly fine. I’m ordering pretty frequently so getting a membership and its benefits was the best option for me. I think it’s amazing that MyUS.com offers free service and paid services. This way you can decide what suits you and your needs best. To make this all a bit more clear, here are the three memberships and their pros:
Start Shopping US Stores
It’s already time for the fun part: start shopping! Shop top brands and great deals only available from USA stores like Amazon, Gap, Nordstrom, Sephora, and Glossier. Simply enter your MyUS address at checkout, and your purchases will be shipped (often for free) to MyUS’s USA facility.
Caution: if you’re living in Europe you might need to use a VPN to access the US website. I noticed that if I try to browse the Sephora US website, I immediately get redirected to the Sephora France website. Using a VPN and connecting it to a USA server helps you access the website. The reason why websites like Sephora US and Ulta are blocking people from Europe is because of our GDPR laws. There are lots of options when it comes to a VPN. If you’re not using a VPN already, there are a lot of paid versions but if you browse through the internet well enough, you’ll find some free versions. For example, I’m using ProtonVPN.
Package(s) arrives at your MyUS address
You will be notified via email as soon as your order is received at the MyUS.com USA facility. View and manage all your packages from your MyUS online account, 24/7. Their experts will record product details for you for export documents (important for customs) and will inspect every package to ensure no items are damaged. Your purchases are securely stored in their warehouse.
Caution: you often get a delivery notification from the store you shopped at but since MyUS has to process your package, it’ll take some time before you’ll be notified by MyUS. You don’t have to worry if this happens, your package is safe and in their warehouse and they’re working on processing and getting it into your suite as soon as possible.
You might have been looking around in your account already and noticed a couple of options that look like this:
Incoming Packages: Here you can upload documents (for example your order confirmation which includes the items and prices) to inform MyUS that you have a package coming. If you do that, they’ll be able to process your packages quicker and they’ll arrive in your suite sooner.
Ready To Send: These packages are ready to be shipped to you. This means that your item values are confirmed and everything is ok. You might see a little ‘edit’ button behind the total value, this is where you can adjust it if necessary. Mind you, this should be the exact same as on your order confirmation. This is for customs and has to be correct. If their system identifies a potential problem with the price you entered, your package will be moved to the Action Required tab.
To be totally honest, I’ve tried to fill in a lower value in order to get a lower custom charge but MyUS is checking and made me adjust the value to the actual value before they shipped my order – so there’s no way to get around this lol.
In Review: if MyUS suspects that you’re trying to ship an item that is prohibited in your country or for export from the United States (items like gasoline, explosive fireworks, guns, skin, fur or leather of nearly all animals, etc.) they’ll file your package under ‘in review’. If your package got lost in their warehouse, it’ll get filed under ‘in review’ too because they’re trying to find your package. Don’t get scared, I’ve had 2 lost packages but order over 100 packages, and in both cases, I got my money back from that package AND they found my packages and still shipped them to me so the service is amazing.
Action Required: If your packages end up here, it means that there’s action required from you. You’ll always get notified by email if you have to take action too. When action is required it means that the order didn’t include an invoice or their system identifies a potential problem with the price you entered and you have to enter the purchase value of all imported products + a copy of your order confirmation which has the values on them.
View All: Here you can see all your packages. The incoming ones, the ones that are in your suite already, etc.
Ship Your Package(s) To You
It’s time to actually ship your package(s) now! If you have just ordered one package, you can create a ship request right away. If you want to ship multiple packages, make sure to tick all their boxes and then create a ship request. MyUS.com will consolidate your packages together into just one package which saves you money. You’ll then be able to choose the postal company (such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, and USPS). you prefer and how fast you want your package to arrive. The faster, the more expensive though.
MyUS.com provides services like adding ‘fragile’ stickers, extra protection paper, etc. You have to pay a couple of dollars for this though. It’s not necessary to add these but it’s an option and if you think you need it, you can add what you think will help get your order safely to your home. In general, I don’t use any addon services but if I’m shipping something like candles or fragrances, anything from glass, I’ll add a ‘fragile’ sticker and sometimes even extra protection paper.
I’m a bit of a risk-taker and not adding extra services such as extra protection paper is definitely risky. I’m going to be fully honest with you here, I’ve had items that arrived broken. I would say 90% of my products arrived perfectly fine but I had a couple of eyeshadow palettes that got one or two broken shadows. I mean, it is easy to fix yourself if you want to but if you want to avoid this then I suggest adding extra protection paper and/or a ‘fragile’ sticker.
After you filled in your shipping preferences and the addons you want, you’re ready to pay for shipping and let MyUS ship your package to you! They’ll start processing your order pretty quickly after you submitted your ship request and you’ll get a notification once your package shipped. I believe that most of the time you’ll be able to track your order but I’m not sure if that’s the case with all the shipping methods.
Keep in mind that you might have to pay a customs charge. Here in the Netherlands, we need to pay customs so every time I order I have to keep this in mind. Not every country has custom charges though, so you might want to check your country’s laws first before ordering.
To be totally honest, it can get pricey. I mean, if you have to pay shipping costs and customs charges you’ll have to pay quite some money in total. That’s why I try to plan my orders and make sure to ship them together to save some money there and I’m also not blindly ordering from the US since this could become a very expensive hobby. However, being able to purchase from Sephora, Glossier, Milk Makeup, Rare Beauty, and many other brands, makes it worth it for me.
