How To Fix Broken Eyeshadow With Alcohol

My Natasha Denona Mini Palette arrived with one broken shade, which you can see on the left. Right if the picture of my palette after I repaired it with rubbing alcohol.
What You Need
To properly repair your eyeshadow palette or any other powder product, you need to gather a couple of items before you can start. What do you need? I think most of the products are already somewhere in your house, which makes it even easier. If not, the only things you need to get are the following:
- Optional: a bowl
- Rubbing Alcohol, the closer to 100%, the better
- Spoon or something smaller like a coin
- A q-tip and/or a makeup-wipe
- Dropper or anything that can help you not add too much alcohol at once
What To Do
- The first step is to gather as many as possible of the product together and put it back into the original pan. If the broken powder product isn’t shattered all over the floor, that’ll be a more straightforward step since you only have to make sure to put as much product as possible from all over the packaging back into the pan. I usually add it directly to the pan, but it’s also possible to use a little bowl to gather the product in.
- The second step is to put the rubbing alcohol in a dropper (after you got as much powder product back in its pan) since you don’t want to drown your broken powder product. Start dripping in the alcohol slowly and ensure your powder product is wet but not soaking.
- Grab a spoon or a coin, depending on the size of the powder product that’s broken. Now the powder product is wet, start pressing it into the pan with the coin or spoon. You can also smooth it out to ensure it looks almost as good as new.
- Use a q-tip or makeup wipe to clean up the product’s outer packaging and eliminate all the excess powder you couldn’t use during the first step.
After you’re happy with how it’s pressed back into the pan and smoothed out, it’s time to let it dry. Let it dry for at least 24 hours without the cab on it. I let my products air dry for about 24-48 hours.
I recommend using the product again after 48 hours to ensure it’s all dried down and pressed back into the packaging correctly. That’s it! How to fix broken eyeshadow is super easy, affordable, and quick with rubbing alcohol.

How I Always Fix My Broken Powders
My recommendation, and the method I always use to repair my broken powders, is rubbing alcohol. I find this the easiest, quick and hygienic way to repair my shadows or other products. It makes the product look new and works exactly the same as before it was broken.
On top of that, I always have rubbing alcohol somewhere lying around already, so it’s also the most convenient for me.
That’s how to fix broken eyeshadow or any other powder product! I really hoped this helped you fix your products.
Omg girl, I was cracking up at your intro…. makeup baby ???…. but actually ? accurate!
Also, I totally agree with your tips! I did crush up the rest of my shadow and found it helpful based on the weird way my shadow cracked. BUT you are a genuine for using a spoon to smooth out the shadow bc mine dried with more of an uneven texture lol
Lmao you know you’re beauty-obsessed when you start calling your products makeup babies!
I agree, sometimes it could be more helpful to just crack the whole shadow.
A spoon literally makes a shadow look new again! 🙂
Oh my goodness!! I can fix so many of my palettes now! I didn’t even know this was possible! Thank you!!
HOLY, Thank you for this post! I didn’t even know you could fix broken powder products. Now, if I still have that palette, I can fix it. It fell off the shelf I kept it on and it shattered. It was one of my new ones as well and oh so gorgeous with all sorts of mermaid colours. And I got a few more that just had a bump against something. 🙁
Ugh, it always breaks my heart if a product fell and shattered, thankfully it’s super easy to repair them! Hopefully, this post is going to help you fix your products and enjoy them again! 🙂
Okay, so is it a yes or not to using the alcohol? One video showed that it works and another says don’t do it.
Yes, to alcohol! I always use alcohol, and it never fails me. Also never ruined a product either. 🙂
