I got introduced to Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks a little over 2 years ago and actually shared my thoughts on the blog at that time. In the meantime, I have tested a lot of different formulas and brands but I always stay curious to try even more formulas. That’s exactly what we’re going to do today! I’ll be testing 4 Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks: A Matte one, two Demi Mattes, and a Lip Strobe. Curious to read my thoughts?

A couple of years ago, I bought my first Huda Beauty matte liquid lipstick in Wifey.  I liked the formula but for some reason, I never bought other shades. After testing out the Huda Beauty Bullet Lipsticks, I remembered how good their lipstick formulas are.

Since I’ve only tested the bullet lipsticks and their matte liquid lipstick, I thought it would be fun to test out two of their other formulas as well: the Lip Strobe formula and the Demi Matte formula. In this review, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the formulas and comparing them as well.

Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks

The Huda Beauty Liquid Lipsticks I’ve bought are (left to right):

  • Huda Beauty Matte Liquid Lipstick in Crush – $20
  • Huda Beauty Demi Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bonnie – $20
  • Huda Beauty Demi Matte Liquid Lipstick in Sheikha – $20
  • Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Boujee – $18

So far, these are the three different Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks formulas they offer on their website and their retailers. However, their new product Silk Lip Balm comes in a liquid lipstick packaging as well.

Matte Liquid Lipstick promises

The Liquid Matte Lipstick provides long-lasting pigmented color that literally lasts for hours, even if you’re traveling or eating a snack. It’s budge-proof, kiss-proof, and life-proof! The hydrating formula is infused with antioxidants and an exclusive complex to help maintain your lips’ hydration, really nourishing the lips and giving it a lightweight and silky feeling.

Demi Matte Liquid Lipstick Promises

Huda Beauty Demi Matte is a bold Cream Lipstick showcasing a full spectrum of ultra-feminine colors to complement every one of your alter egos. Saturated in pigment, the creamy texture glides on with an intense color release from the first swipe, creating a lacquer-like sheen that highlights and enhances the natural contours of your pout.

Demi Matte lipsticks are formulated with a hint of menthol, specially designed to deliver a temporary cooling effect and tingling sensation that leaves the lips looking visibly plumper. Enriched with Maxi-lip™ that stimulates collagen and hydrates the lips throughout wear, Demi Matte sets to a satin finish that lasts for hours with extreme comfort, without dehydrating the lips.

Lip Strobe Liquid Lipstick Promises

The Huda Beauty Lip Strobe proposes a versatile combination of effects and applications. Offering a prismatic spectrum of sheer and full coverage colors, each one of them boasts its own pigment and pearl complex. Some are beautifully iridescent, infused with pearls, and others are packed with rich pigments or have subtle, glimmering glitters.

Incorporated into an adherent yet flexible dewy base, it gives lips a sculpted and volumized gleam visible from every angle. The non-sticky and cushion-like texture make wear more comfortable than ever while the precision, heart-shaped flock glides on generously for an even coat in one gesture.

Product Information

While there’s clearly stated that the Matte Liquid Lipstick formula is cruelty-free, paraben-free and gluten-free, it isn’t stated at the Demi Matte and Lip Strobe description. When I go to Huda Beauty’s FAQ page for explanation, they say that “Whilst our products are not officially certified as ‘cruelty-free’ we can confirm that we do not conduct or commission animal testing on ingredients, formulations or finished products.” So this means that all Huda Beauty products are cruelty-free.

Not all of Huda Beauty’s products are vegan as some of their products contain carmine, beeswax, or other animal-derived ingredients or by-products. However, Huda Beauty does have some vegan options. To see which products are vegan, please check out this list

HUDA BEAUTY LIQUID LIPSTICKS Swatches

Crush is a beautiful peachy nude shade, dries down matte without feeling too dry. The lipstick doesn’t crumble after a while, is long-wearing and I can indeed eat a snack or drink something without it wearing off. It is pretty transfer-proof and doesn’t budge easily. You can barely feel this lipstick on your lips.

Bonnie is a stunning pink shade, is super pigmented, and has a beautiful creamy shine to it. When opening the tube, I can smell the menthol which is slightly too much for me as I don’t like menthol but once I put the lipstick on I can barely smell the menthol. I can definitely feel that it is cooling and it does make my lips look a little plumper.

Sheikha is a gorgeous mauve with a purple undertone when I put it on the lips. This shade also has a beautiful creamy shine to it, is very pigmented, hydrating and cooling. The effects are the same as I have with Bonnie. The menthol smell is also very ‘there’ but when put on the lips, it’s definitely wearable.

Boujee is a peachy pink with golden reflects in it. I have to admit I was scared it would look horrible on me because it looks very metallic in the packaging. When putting it on the lips, I really like how the lipgloss looks. It’s sheer but pigmented enough to see the color on the lips, the reflects are stunning and it’s a non-sticky gloss.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Wifey Review

Here’s a closer look at the applicator. It’s just a normal kind of applicator which applies the lipstick really smooth and overall very nice. The smell is pretty strong though, so if you don’t like a scented lipstick, this might not be your thing. I don’t mind the smell, it has a sweet smell and I like that, so it’s fine by me.

The formula feels nice on the lips. It does take some time for it to dry down but it ends up drying down completely.

The left picture is natural light and the right picture is with a flashlight on. I forgot to take my Fitbit off while taking pics so don’t mind that haha. The color is super pretty! It’s a perfect nude color to me and as you might know by now, I really love a nude lipstick.

In the pictures, I just applied it so that’s why it’s still a little bit wet looking but it dries down. In my opinion, this matte liquid lipstick is similar to the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks. The lipstick stays on very well and doesn’t transfer. I had to reapply the lipstick after 3-4 hours. It’s really comfortable to wear and doesn’t dry out my lips at all.

HUDA BEAUTY LIQUID LIPSTICKS Review

Do I think Huda Beauty’s descriptions are honest and true? I definitely do. I don’t think they’ve lied one single word. I really appreciate it! It’s easy to throw in some positive words in the description but you never know if it’s fully the truth. Well, Huda Beauty isn’t lying. The products are exactly how they’re described.

So let me tell you a weird fact about me: I hate cooling creams and I hate the smell of menthol. Why? I don’t know. I just can’t handle the feeling and the smell. Another weird fact about me: I’m bad at reading descriptions.

I had no clue when I bought the Demi Matte shades that it had menthol in it and that it had a cooling effect. The first time I opened that tube I was like ‘OH GOSH WHAT IS THIS‘ and pretty much had the same reaction when I put it on my lips lol. Even though the menthol smell is pretty intense when opening the tube, the strongest smell goes away quickly.

The cooling effect isn’t my favorite feeling but because I really like the formula of the lipstick, I think it’s worth going through it lol. You can ask my mom if you don’t believe my hate against cooling menthol stuff, she knows lol. So if I say the formula is worth going through this, the lipstick is that good.

The Lip Strobe formula actually surprised me. I’m very critical when it comes to glosses and there are a few gloss formulas I REALLY love (Fenty Gloss Bomb and Kylie Cosmetics High Glosses are my absolute faves!), I can definitely add this one to the favorites list.  It’s hydrating, non-sticky, and overall looks amazing on the lips. I expected Boujee to be not my color at all, but I can thankfully pull it off. I wore it with different lip liners beneath it and I think that looks bomb!

Have you ever tried one of Huda Beauty’s liquid lipsticks? Let me know in the comments what your favorite one is!

  1. The matte formula is exactly what I look for with matte liquid lipsticks! I’m all about a stay all day lip versus something glossy. Huda’s packaging is always so beautiful as well.
