Kylie Cosmetics first started off as Lip Kits By Kylie Jenner. The first launch was a HUGE success and quickly after that Kylie Cosmetics was born. I’m not going to lie, Kylie Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands for sure. I love Kylie Cosmetics’ matte liquid lipsticks, but I wanted to test out the velvet liquid lipsticks too. In this post, I’m going to test out the Velvet Liquid Lipsticks & Velvet Lip Kits by Kylie Cosmetics.

If you’re not familiar with the Lip Kits by Kylie Cosmetics, it means you’ll get a lip liner and a matching liquid lipstick as a set. If you’re not a lip liner person then you can go for the single liquid lipsticks.

Since I absolutely love their Matte Lip Kits and Lip Singles, I was super excited to try their Velvet formula. The shades I ended up buying are Low Key, Boy Bye, and Savage as a single liquid lipstick. I also got Charm, Harmony, Strawberry Cream, and Bare Lip Kits. Are curious to see if I like them? Keep on reading.

The Velvet Liquid Lipstick has high-intensity pigment for a full coverage lip. This long-wearing, ultra-pigmented liquid lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients that glide on for a creamy matte look that does not dry down. Let’s start off with the shade description:

  • Boy Bye is a pinky mauve
  • Savage is a warm apricot nude

The Velvet Liquid Lipstick retails for $16 each and contains 0.11 oz / 3.00 g. Moreover, the lipsticks are cruelty-free

Strawberry Cream should look like a true pink but actually looks straight-up orange in this swatch. I think it’s expired lol so this swatch isn’t 100% accurate!

I never thought I would love a formula more than Kylie’s matte liquid lipstick but I think this Velvet formula is even better. Yes, her matte liquid lipsticks are the best out there but this Velvet formula is so nice! When you’re having dry lips or when you don’t like wearing a matte liquid lipstick, this formula is definitely one for you. It’s very creamy, very soft, smells amazing, and is still very pigmented. It actually feels like a normal bullet lipstick but has that matte look. However, this won’t dry out your lips at all! It’s so comfortable to wear.

You might question the longevity of these lipsticks but I promise you, they stay on for so long! They’re definitely long-wearing even though they’re creamy.

The colors are very wearable and pretty in my opinion. As you can tell, they don’t dry down completely but still, look close to matte. However, all three shades (all velvets) feel very comfortable and creamy. Not drying at all and is long-wearing! If you don’t really like Kylie’s matte formula, I would definitely recommend trying her Velvet formula.

My personal all-time favorite shade is Bare. It’s definitely my go-to lipstick shade! Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!
