I love a good setting powder because it’s an essential step in my and many beauty lovers to set the makeup for all-day wear. As a Kylie Cosmetics obsessed, I obviously had to try the Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powders and got the shades Translucent and Soft Pink.

I’ve never tried another shade than translucent, so I’m pretty much most excited for the Soft Pink shade. However, I’m still very excited to see how the Translucent shade performs.

Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powder

The Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powder locks in makeup, mattifies, and minimizes excess shine all in one silky, skin-breathable formula. Available in 6 natural shades, this loose, weightless powder was designed for all skin tones and is a must-have for keeping your makeup looking good all day long. The 6 shades are the following:

How To Apply

If you want to brighten the under eyes or other areas, dip the brush or sponge into the powder, tap off the excess, and apply the product to the areas you want to highlight. If you want to set the entire face, just lightly dust the powder all over your face with your favorite brush.

Things To Note

Kylie Cosmetics has been cruelty-free since the start of the brand but after their rebranding in 2021, they’re now also completely vegan, paraben-free, gluten-free, and a clean beauty brand.

Another thing I just want to mention is that before the rebrand the Setting Powder also retailed for $24 but contained 10 grams, now you’ll get only half of that (5 grams) for the same price. It probably has to do with the change of ingredients being more expensive, but it’s still quite a bummer that you’ll get 5 grams less for the same price.

Where To Buy

The Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powders are available on their own website, kyliecosmetics.com, Ulta, and Nordstrom.

Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powders Review

Since I have fair to light skin, I figured that Translucent and Soft Pink were going to be my best bet. I wasn’t sure about Yellow, which maybe could’ve worked but for now, I’m more than happy with the shades I got. I think they’re both very natural looking, Translucent under the eyes is slightly brightening whereas Soft Pink isn’t really visible. Both Translucent and Soft Pink aren’t visible when applied all over the face though, which is a good thing of course.

With these powders, you’ll be able to perfectly set your makeup for all-day wear, without a heavy feeling or a powdery and cakey look. They’re very natural but still are mattifying and slightly blurring. The texture of the powders is truly silky-soft which feels nice but other than that I don’t think it has any other benefit (but I may be wrong?).

My Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is my all-time favorite setting powder but these two gorgeous Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powders are now added to that list! Truly worth it in my opinion.

Alternatives

  • Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder: The OG of the setting powders is obviously worth the mention. This has to be one of the best setting powders on the market, period. It’s setting your makeup without looking cakey, it’s blurring and mattifying all day.
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Setting Powder: The All Nighter Setting Powder is absolutely amazing for humid, sweaty weather because it’s waterproof. It isn’t a loose powder though but it basically does the same job, unless you want to bake or brighten.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder: Another pressed powder but definitely worth the mention, is this Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder. As the name already says, it truly leaves the skin airbrushed and flawless, while locking in the makeup and mattifying the skin.

Final Verdict

The formula is silky-soft, easy to apply, and perfectly blurs the face while setting the makeup perfectly. Setting Powder can make you look powdery or cakey but not these powders for sure. I truly love how they look on and lock my makeup in place for all-day wear.

If you like a more brightening under-eye effect, I would recommend the Translucent Kylie Cosmetics Setting Powder. If you like a more natural look, the Soft Pink Powder is perfect for you. Both of them work well all over the face!

  1. Oh I like how you described the pink powder as being more natural – sometimes I just want a powder to set my face without looking too heavy or too brightening. Iโ€™ve been quite impressed by the route Kylie has been taking her brand.
