If you’re wondering about this and want to know every detail about this powder, then keep on reading!
What Is The Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
The original Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder provides 16-24 Hours shine control, with the iconic soft-focus finish with zero flashback that won major awards and is a cult favorite. As it is truly translucent, it is a makeup must-have to set and maintain the color of your foundation. Exceptionally milled to deliver incredible staying power without weight or texture so the skin looks and feels soft, smooth and flawless from day to night. Itโs no surprise, 1 Translucent Loose Setting Powder is sold every 20 seconds! Available in 3 shades for all skin tones including dry skin, combination skin and especially oily skin.
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder promises the following things:
- Reduces Shine
- 16 Hour Soft Matte Finish

- Translucent: Perfect for Fair to Medium Skin Tones.โ
- Translucent Honey: Sets medium skin tones with olive and golden undertones.
- Translucent Medium Deep: Ideal for medium-deep to deep skin tones. โ
Key Ingredients
- Vitamin C + E Powders: powerful antioxidants known to support a more even-toned complexion over time.โ
- Botanical Blurring Powder: silky, finely-milled plant-derived powder blurs the looks of pores and absorbs excess oil.
- Skin Conditioning Powder: a natural amino acid powder that melts into skin for an undetectable finish.โ
- Ultra, Finely-milled Texture: becomes one with skin, without emphasizing texture, imperfections, or dry patches.โ
How To Use
For a soft finish, use a soft powder brush to apply all over the face or specific, oily areas. Use a small brush to apply under the eyes, a soft brush gives a soft effect and a dense brush can give a slight brightening effect. You can also use a powder puff to press the powder into the skin with a rolling motion.
Things To Note
Laura Mercier is in the grey area at the moment when it comes to their cruelty-free status. It’s currently unclear whether or not Laura Mercier is cruelty-free since they haven’t provided enough information (Source: Cruelty-Free Kitty). Laura Mercier is owned by Shiseido, which is not a cruelty-free company.
The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder does not clog pores, is dermatologist-tested, is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin, dry skin, and combination skin, and is non-comedogenic. โ
Where To Buy
The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is available on their own website lauramercier.com, at Sephora, Nordstorm, and Cult Beauty.
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder Review
As of right now, I have the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder Mini in my collection, which you can see in the picture above. Even though I’ve tried the full-size as well (which is obviously the same formula but you get 1 Oz. / 30 g. instead of 0.33 Oz. / 9.3 g.), I’m more into the mini version right now because I’m using less setting powder as I used to. This mini version lasts me years! So if you’re using less setting powder, or at least less shine-reducing powders, the mini version is all you need.
On to the formula, I absolutely love this setting powder and I have been for years. If you’re looking for a good, mattifying powder to set your makeup while not making you look cakey or accentuate texture this is the one you need. The formula is breathable which is one of the things I love because powders often can add a “thick layer”, even if it’s invisible, on top of your makeup which can make you feel quite uncomfortable and doesn’t look good either. This powder is basically not there at all, so it’s truly translucent in how it looks on the face as well as how it feels.
Moreover, the setting powder also has this blurring effect so the finish looks always blurred and flawless. All over the face or under the eyes, it doesn’t settle into lines or wrinkles it blurs them. The Translucent powder does give me a soft, brightening effect when used under the eyes which I like because it’s very subtle but you still see a difference and you don’t know it’s actually a powder doing this.
I do like quite a couple of translucent setting powders, but I still want to have a Laura Mercier Setting Powder in my collection or as a backup at all times. That’s just how much I love and trust this powder!

Final Verdict
Needless to say that this Laura Mercier Translucent Powder is one of my all-time favorites and I’m pretty sure it’ll always be one of my favorites. It doesn’t come as a surprise to me that so many people truly love this setting powder and why it has been a staple in so many collections. It deserves all the love it gets, even though it’s quite expensive BUT to solve that problem, just get the mini version which will last you a long time too! If you had any doubts, just get it and join team #LauraMercierPowderLovers lol, but seriously just get it you’ll love it.
