Now we’re close to Valentine’s Day; it’s time to celebrate the people you love dearly in your life. This Valentine’s Day, I’m celebrating the women who have helped shape us, supported us, and always loved us.
When I saw these super cute Meroda Lipsticks and their matching Lip Pencils, I immediately thought of my best friend and me because she’s a red lipstick lover, and I – as you know by now – am a true nude lipstick lover. For me, these gorgeous Meroda lipsticks represent us and our friendship.
So Miriam, if you read this (and I know you do because you’re my number 1 fan) – this one is for you! Thank you for being my best friend – P.S. the red lipstick and lip liner are coming your way next time we see each other lol.
Meroda Lipsticks & Lip Pencils Review
The Meroda Lipsticks and their matching Lip Pencils come in a bundle, which is a perfect gift for your loved one and yourself, especially if one of you loves red lips and the other love nude lips. But you can also get every product separately which is nice if you’re purchasing this for yourself.
The Velvet Dream Lipsticks are called Perfect Nude and Lucious Red, with the Lip Pencils having the same names. All products come in this gorgeous, champagne gold packaging – mom said that it gave her Chanel/Dior vibes, so it looks definitely luxurious.
The finish of the lipsticks is matte, but they contain antioxidant & soothing ingredients like prickly pear extract to help provide excellent moisture for the lips. But is that enough for it to wear nicely? Let’s dive in.
Both lipsticks and lip liners are pigmented in just one swipe, but you can increase the intensity by adding more layers. The formula is buildable, so you don’t end up with crumbling lipstick if you add more layers.
The lipstick glides onto the lips, applies super creamy, and looks matte. The lip pencil formula is also creamy, and it reminds me of the Natasha Denona Lip Liners and Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liners, which is a good sign because I love these brands and their formulas.
The formula of the lipstick is literally SO comfortable! It’s one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks in my collection. Even though the finish is matte, they don’t feel like this at all. The formula stays lightweight, creamy, and very velvety in how it feels on the lips.
the formula never dried out my lips, not even after wearing it for a couple of hours; they just stayed comfortable and nourishing.
I noticed a tiny bit of bleeding with the red lipstick shade – but reds aren’t always the easiest on me, as you can see literally every little mistake I make as I have such a light skin tone. I didn’t notice any bleeding or smudging with the nude shade at all.
I had zero problems with the application. The lip pencils and the lipsticks glide onto the lips and are easy to use.
The lipsticks have a pointed tip (see photos below), which helps with precise application. The lip pencils are twist-ups with a little sharpener on the back to keep the tip sharp.
The Meroda Lipsticks stay on for a solid 4-5 hours without eating. The lip liner helped me reach the 5 hours with ease. The lipstick slowly starts to fade from the inside out – which could be easily touched up.
The formula doesn’t crumble off or leave a *not so pretty* look at all; they fade slowly – yes, this is obviously more visible when wearing a bright red compared to a nude shade – but it never really looked ugly.
- Lancome Lipsticks: The Meroda lipsticks instantly reminded me of the matte Lancome lipsticks. They’re quite similar in formula, texture, and looks, but Meroda is more affordable, vegan, non-comedogenic, and cruelty-free. If you like the Lancome lippies, you’ll surely love the Meroda ones!
- MAC Powder Kiss Lipsticks: I really love the Powder Kiss formula, and the Meroda Lipsticks have a similar feel to them; however, I would say that Meroda is a bit less thick and a bit creamier. Definitely a great alternative to MAC lipsticks.
The Meroda Lipsticks are very pigmented, matte, and still pleasantly comfortable. I noticed a tiny bit of bleeding with the red shade but none with the nude lipstick. The lip pencils and lipsticks are creamy, non-drying, and easy to apply. Seriously a great lipstick formula and lovely lip pencils to match them!
