I had tried and reviewed Modelones gel polish before and wasn’t impressed. However, I really saw potential in their products, and I didn’t want to give up on the brand and its products that easily.
So in today’s review, I will share my thoughts on the Modelones Solid Cream Gel Polish. On top of that, I had a special expert to help me with this review – my grandma – and she has some things to say!
Modelones Solid Cream Gel Polish Review
As I have acrylic nails and my mom, too, I asked my grandma – who always wears regular nail polish – to be my model for this review. I applied the product to her nails and will share my thoughts on that process, and my grandma told me exactly how long it stayed on, how she liked it, etc.
So for the sake of transparency, this review is written by my grandma and me. A lovely family project, if you will. 🙂
First Impression
The packaging looks like a Vinyl Record, which I think is super cute. Once you open it, you’ll immediately see the 21 stunning colors. The pans look tiny, and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to paint even one hand with it, but I was wrong! You don’t need much product, which was a positive surprise to me.
The Vinyl Record is supposed to have a low smell, but I still find the smell quite intense, to be honest. It’s not really bothering me, but if you’re more sensitive to smell, you may want to keep this in mind.
Pigmentation
My grandma picked a dusty pink shade and one glitter shade to try out. The dusty pink shade was pigmented with one application.
I applied a thin gel layer so it still had some slight sheerness. If you want to, you could definitely keep it that way. But we wanted full pigment and color payoff, so we went to do a second layer.
The glitter shade is obviously not that pigmented, as it is more of a topper, but it gave off enough glitter with just one layer.
Formula
The formula is super easy to use. You don’t need much product to have a decent color payoff, and it dries down quite quickly with the light.
I have a mini LED light from Modelones, and I think because it is mini, it sometimes takes two times (2 x 60 seconds) for the nail polish to be really dry. If you grab the bigger LED Light, you may not have this problem!
The product has, like I said, quite a strong smell, but I don’t really mind this, and my grandma wasn’t really bothered either.
The Gel Polish looks fantastic on the nails; it has a pretty shine and doesn’t look thick. My grandma said it feels like wearing regular nail polish, but it stays longer and is more budge-proof.
Application
I was a tiny bit scared right before the first time trying this as it looked a little intimidating to me – mainly because I’ve never really worked with gel polish and especially not applying it with a brush on someone else’s hands.
The moment I went in, I realized it wasn’t hard at all! You scoop up a little product with the brush that comes with the Modelones Solid Cream Gel Polish kit and paint the nails how you would with normal nail polish.
The main difference is that you have to dry the gel polish with a LED light – so don’t forget you need one if you’re willing to try the Modelones Solid Cream Gel Polish! Modelones sells the essential tools you need, by the way, such as the LED light and top/base coat.
Longevity
My grandma shared and showed me her nails after two weeks; only one nail was slightly chipped. All the other nails were perfectly fine! No chips and all the nails basically looked still new. I noticed that the initial shine you get right after application faded a little, but it still looks good.
We are both really impressed and satisfied with the Modelones Solid Cream Gel Polish results!
Final Verdict
Overall, my grandma and I think this is an excellent option if you want to do your nails but want the nail polish to stay on longer than regular nail polish. The Modelones Solid Cream Gel Polish delivers great results for a great price and makes an excellent alternative for the salon.
The longevity is excellent; after two weeks of wearing, only one nail was slightly chipped, and all other nails still looked good. The initial shine got a little dull but was still visible, the color payoff is good, and you don’t even need much product to get a fully coated nail.
Even application, which can sound intimidating for beginners, is very easy and straightforward. If you’re new to (solid) gel polish, I would like to tell you that you don’t have to be afraid – it’s super easy to use, and if I can do it, you can do it too!
If I had to share some negatives, I would say that the strong scent is a slight con and the duller-looking shine after two weeks (which you can fix by adding a little layer of top coat).

How To Use
- Apply a base coat and cure with a nail lamp;
- Use the nail brush to dig out some amount of gel;
- Apply color gel to the nail and cure with a nail lamp for 30-60 seconds;
- Apply a top coat and cure with a nail lamp.
Some tips shared by Modelones:
- You need to remove the sealing wax from the new brush before use, or it will be “stiff,” please press the brush repeatedly just to soften the bristles.
- Better use professional cleaning essence to clean residual color and nourish/moisturize the brush( to reduce brush streaks): Pour some essence into a cup or nail art palette, press the brush on the front and back to force out the residual color in the brush.
- Keep the brush at the base of your cuticle, press down gently to fan the bristles out, and swipe downwards.
- Solid gel polish may solidify when illuminated by LED lights, sunlight, and manicure lamps, so please keep the whole Palette away from light sources and close the lid in time after each use.
