Ole Henriksen Truth Serum
The only problem I have with the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is the price. Other than that, I think this is a lovely serum if you’re looking for something that refreshes, brightens, and smooths the skin. It smells delicious, is easy to apply, absorbs quickly, and leaves the skin feeling soft. I see myself purchasing this serum again during a sale.

If you’re on the hunt for a good vitamin C serum, you may have come across the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum. This popular product promises to brighten your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Sounds promising, but is it the truth?

This Ole Henriksen Truth Serum review will take a closer look at the ingredients, possible side effects, and my personal experience to help you decide if this product is right for you.

What Is The Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

The Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is a cult-favorite vitamin C serum with collagen that brightens, boosts elasticity, firms, hydrates, and soothes skin for a healthy-looking complexion.

Ole was an early adopter of vitamin C in skincare, believing that its antioxidant properties and role in promoting collagen make it a crucial ingredient. This potent True-C Complex and vegan collagen serum helps brighten and firm the skin as it delivers all-day hydration.

Enriched with orange and green tea extracts, this fast-absorbing vitamin c serum formula revives the complexion. Indulge in this serum’s sweet, energizing citrus aroma and silky texture as it glides beautifully on the skin.

Best Suited For

This Ole Henriksen Truth Serum vitamin C serum has been tested on all skin types. It’s best suited for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types.

How To Use

Apply evenly to the face and neck, in the morning or evening. You can use the serum daily, taking time to enjoy the uplifting citrus scent and silky texture. After fully absorbed, follow with a moisturizer of your choice.

Things To Note

This Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is gluten-free, cruelty-free, vegan and comes in recyclable packaging. This serum contains less than one percent synthetic fragrance and was rigorously tested for safety, toxicity, and allergens.

Where To Buy

The Ole Henriksen Truth Serum retails for $55 and is available on their website, olehenriksen.com, and Sephora.

What Is Vitamin C

Vitamin C is well-known as a very effective antioxidant that plays a role in many processes in the body, including the production of collagen—a fibrous protein that gives skin its strength and elasticity.

During aging, the collagen and elastin in our skin tend to lose their strength. As a result, collagen and elastin eventually become less able to retain moisture. Without moisture, skin loses density and becomes fragile and brittle. Lack of vitamin C also contributes to the formation of lines and wrinkles.

Benefits Of A Vitamin C Serum

  • Improves the appearance of the skin;
  • It helps to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals;
  • It can help to stimulate collagen production, which can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Do Vitamin C Serums Have Side Effects?

It is sporadic that Vitamin C serums have side effects; however, very sensitive skin can get irritated and itchy because of it. If you have very sensitive skin, it’s best to contact your dermatologist first before you start using a Vitamin C serum. A Vitamin C serum, in general, does not have any side effects.

Never combine a Vitamin C serum with AHAs, BHAs, retinol, niacinamide, and benzol peroxide in the same routine. It can lead to skin flaking, drying, and irritation.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Review

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

Let me start with the scent of the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, as this is probably one of my favorite things about the serum. I’m genuinely obsessed with how it smells. The serum has a present but not bothersome citrus/orange scent which is so lovely. It always makes me excited to put the serum on.

What I don’t like as much is the price of this serum. I think $55 is a lot for a Vitamin C serum. I know there are way more brands in the same price category, as serums are pretty expensive, but it’s still a lot for just one skincare product. If you’re interested in buying this, I recommend grabbing the serum during a sale or in a value set.

Formula

The serum’s texture is very lovely! You don’t need much to cover your face. It’s a lightweight formula that absorbs very quickly and never irritates my skin. It also doesn’t feel sticky or greasy after application. It leaves my skin looking refreshed and soft right away.

Results

I can say that I have seen a noticeable difference in the overall appearance of my skin. My skin looks brighter and even, and I have noticed that my skin feels soft and smooth. My skin also has this natural-looking glow to it because of the serum. As I don’t have many wrinkles and/or fine lines, I cannot share any considerable difference, but I can see that the Truth Serum has a tightening effect which probably works well for mature skin.

This is the kind of product you think you don’t see massive results unless you stop using. Once my bottle was empty and I started using other products, I noticed I was missing something. My skin looked less bright, duller, and wasn’t as soft and smooth. That’s when I realized that the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is truly effective!

If it delivers all-day hydration, I’m not so sure. Since I’m also using hydrating serums, such as the Hyaluronic Acid serum from The Ordinary, I’m not entirely sure if it’s the combination, just the Hyaluronic Acid or the Vitamin C. At least it isn’t taking away hydration, and it looks like the serums go well together.

I am very impressed with this product and recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful Vitamin C serum.

Alternatives

  • Glossier Vitamin C Super Glow Serum: The Super Glow Serum is quite similar to the Truth Serum, but it’s almost half the price, making this a great alternative. Only the Super Glow Serum’s smell is not so pleasant, especially not compared to the delicious smell of the Truth Serum.
  • Kylie Skin Vitamin C Serum: I enjoyed the Kylie Skin Serum, so it makes an excellent alternative for the Truth Serum; however, I did have results quicker with the Truth Serum compared to the Kylie Vitamin C Serum. The price point of the Kylie Skin serum is also more affordable.

Final Verdict

The only problem I have with the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is the price. Other than that, I think this is a very nice serum if you’re looking for something that refreshes, brightens, and smooths the skin. It smells delicious, is easy to apply, absorbs quickly, and leaves the skin feeling soft. I see myself purchasing this serum again, but during a sale for sure.

  1. I’ve apparently been living under a rock and never heard of the Trendmood box. This is something that I need to keep an eye on, not just for the insane value, but the chance to test new products. I can’t see myself buying every box, but the opportunity to pick and choose is great, especially for us blogger gals when we want to review something. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Lmao do you follow Trendmood? If you do then I think it’s a huge achievement for missing it since I feel like she’s posting about it almost every day lol! It’s a great opportunity to catch a great deal & pick and choose our favorite box. 🙂

  2. I’ve seen these boxes around and I love how much money you get to save with it! My question is, since it comes from America, have you had to pay customs when this arrived? I hate customs and hate ordering from the US because in the UK they charge us the same amount you pay for the product, which is a joke!

    1. Seriously?! That’s insane! I did have to pay customs however, I saved a couple of orders in my US house (it’s just a PO box but I always joke around that I have a US house lmao) so I could ship it all together, which makes it cheaper for me. But I have to pay customs every time I order something from the US too. 🙁 At least, it is a bit less expensive than your custom charges but it’s still pretty expensive sadly (I believe it’s 21% of the product’s price + 12/13 euros for the postal service).

  3. Oh man I seriously need to get onto your shipping method so I can take advantage of this Trendmood Box and some other American beauty goodies. This box is such an insanely good price and I’m super jealous you managed to get all of these products so cheaply! I’ve tried the Banana Bright Eye Crème before but would love to get my hands on some more Ole Henriksen products. You’ll have to let us know how all of the products are!

  4. I’m so gutted I didn’t know about this I must have missed her post in this craziness, I would have loved to try this one. I’ve never tried Ole Henriksen because it’s a bit too pricey and this was such a good occasion! I’m dying to try the toner

  5. I agree with you that the TrendMood boxes are such a great value and I also really like that this is not a subscription box. I love that there are new products featured each month and not just stale things that brands had trouble selling! I am super curious how you like the Pore Mask!!!

    1. Yes, I think that’s so awesome! It’s great for brands to get the hype around their new products + we can try them at a discounted price. I’ll definitely review it once I’ve tested it!
