I personally have a very sensitive scalp. This means that I can’t use every shampoo or conditioner on the market. If I do use a shampoo that irritates my scalp, I will get super itchy, red scalp, and even little wounds/crusts from itching. It’s a true struggle! Do you recognize yourself in this? Don’t look any further because I’ll be sharing the exact products that work for my sensitive scalp!

what is a sensitive scalp?

Let’s start by explaining the symptoms of a sensitive scalp. Symptoms of a sensitive scalp can include burning, tingling, pain, itching, and redness. Your scalp may also just feel tight and itchy.

The symptoms may be caused by a bad diet or by using the wrong shampoo. Moreover, exposure to certain climatic conditions, pollution, stress, hormonal changes, and food allergies can cause you to experience sensitivity in the scalp area as well.

Even though the symptoms could be caused by several factors, shampoo is the number one reason for many people. The harsh cleansers or surfactants in many shampoos can wash away the scalpโ€™s acid mantle โ€“ the natural acidity that protects your skin โ€“ leaving it susceptible to dryness and irritation (Source: Eucerin).

I’m mentioning Briogeo products because I personally really like the products of this brand and they have a special line for people with a sensitive scalp which I think is amazing. However, more brands have products for a sensitive scalp such as Drunk Elephant, Andrelon, Kerastase, Bumble and Bumble, etc. Make sure to check the ingredients list as well as the description (does it say it’s for sensitive scalp?).
