Do you recognize this moment that you were applying your face sunscreen for the first time to find out it’s super greasy, leaves a white cast (a ghost would be scared of you), and starts pilling? Yeah, same, and I hate it. You too? I probably can answer that; yes, you hate this too.

How does a truly invisible, easy-to-apply sunscreen sound to you? A sunscreen that, when you apply it to the face, it’s non-greasy and doesn’t pill immediately while never leaving a white cast? This sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?! The Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is precisely this and more.

So in today’s post, I’m going to share all the pros and cons (sneak peek: there are almost no cons!) of this beloved Supergoop sunscreen, and just one thing, after reading this, I know you want it too, so get your money ready!

The Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is an absolute dream. I’ve never experienced pilling, my makeup always looks flawless on top of this sunscreen, and overall it is one of the best sunscreens out there. If you’re like me and hate the look and feel of general sunscreen, you will love this! If I had to give a grade, it would be a 12/10.

Pros
  • Doesn’t pill with or without makeup
  • Is truly invisible (it’s transparent)
  • Very comfortable u0026amp; lightweight
  • Leaves no white cast or greasiness
Cons
  • Not the cheapest sunscreen

I’ve mentioned a couple of the Supergoop sunscreens in my Coral Reef Safe Sunscreens post. Still, I truly felt like the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen needed a dedicated review so I could explain thoroughly what my thoughts are about it. I’m not easy with sunscreen; I was this person until a couple of years ago who only wore sunscreen on a vacation or when I knew I was going to sunbathe. I know it’s terrible, but I’m a changed woman now!

I admit I had difficulty committing to sunscreen even though I knew it was necessary. Why? I didn’t like the feel of my sunscreen, I didn’t like how it looked under makeup, and overall, two weeks on vacation wearing sunscreen was enough for a whole year. This couldn’t be more wrong, so I told myself to start trying other sunscreens a couple of years ago, and I had to wear sunscreen at least all summer.

During my research, I discovered that people loved the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. I need to try it if it’s popular, so here we are!

What Is Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

How Supergoop themselves describe the Unseen Sunscreen: “The original, totally invisible, weightless, scentless sunscreen with SPF 40 that leaves a velvety finish. This innovative, antioxidant-rich multitasker has a unique oil-free formula that glides onto the skin while providing broad-spectrum SPF 40 protection. Use it as a makeup-gripping primer under foundation when you want a little more coverage or on its own if you want a more natural look. It’s a totally game-changing way to wear sunscreen every day, and it will have you SPF-Obsessed™.”

How To Use

Apply generously and evenly at least 15 minutes before sun exposure, as the last step in your skincare routine and before makeup. Yes, you apply sunscreen after your moisturizer. Reapply after 40 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every 2 hours in general.

Things To Note

Supergoop is a cruelty-free, clean skincare brand that is also coral reef friendly. Helps prevent sunburn • If used as directed with other sun protection measures, it decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.

Warnings: For external use only • Do not use on damaged or broken skin • Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs • When using this product, keep out of eyes • Rinse with water to remove • Keep out of reach of children • If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Where To Shop

Supergoop is available on their own website, Sephora, Nordstrom, and Cult Beauty. Caution: the Unseen Sunscreen is labeled as SPF 30 in Europe/UK, I think this has to do with our laws being even more strict than anywhere else in the world. Other than that, the product is the same.

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen Review

This Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen lives up to its name and is truly invisible. The formula is clear and looks like a primer. Applying it to the face, it absorbs immediately and doesn’t feel sticky, greasy, or clogs pores. It applies smoothly, is super lightweight, and doesn’t leave any white cast. You won’t be able to tell that you’re wearing sunscreen!

My skin never responded to this sunscreen in a bad way, such as irritation, breakouts, or extra oiliness. Moreover, it also perfectly protects my skin as I have never experienced a sunburn when wearing this. On top of this all, it sits perfectly under makeup. It basically functions as a primer (it looks like one, too, the texture is silicone-like, just like some primers out there), so it keeps my makeup in place all day while protecting me. I’ve never experienced pilling, my makeup always looks flawless on top of this sunscreen, and overall it truly is one of the best sunscreens out there.

The Unseen Sunscreen is for all skin types, and if you hear people talking or writing about it, it sounds like it does work for all skin types, which is truly unique. However, if you feel you need something more suitable for your skin type, no worries because Supergoop has it all. Want a more mattified look? Opt for the Matte Screen. Want a more glowy look? Opt for the Glow Screen. Want to reapply your sunscreen when wearing makeup? Try the Mineral Powder. But that’s not all, they have even more different options for face and body which I think is amazing.

Final Verdict

The Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is perfect for people who hate the look and feel of general sunscreen. I promise you, you’re going to love this one absolutely! I can’t shut up about how much I love this sunscreen. It’s literally perfection; not kidding. It’s truly invisible, so the moment you put it on, you can’t see it and it’ll stay that way all the time.

It doesn’t pill (not with or without makeup), doesn’t leave any white cast (the product is transparent already, so it’s not even white when it comes out of the tube), and works like a makeup primer as a bonus benefit. If I had to give a grade, it would be a 12/10.

FAQ

Unseen Sunscreen is a clean chemical sunscreen.

At first glance, you may think that Supergoop is related to Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand, Goop, but that’s not the case. Supergoop was created in 2007, a year before Gwyneth Paltrow founded Goop.

Unseen Sunscreen is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores, so it works wonderfully on various skin types.

Glowscreen and Unseen are both primers that contain clean chemical sunscreen actives. The key difference is that Glowscreen leaves a dewy, pearlescent finish while Unseen leaves a natural, velvety finish.

    1. Yes, almost all their products are vegan with the exception of the following: 100% Mineral Sunscreen Stick (Beeswax) and Sunnyscreen™ 100% Mineral Stick (Beeswax). 🙂
