This beautiful natural-looking palette is inspired by the Too Faced Born This Way foundation shades to enhance your unique and beautiful undertones and make you look like you were… Born This Way. Too Faced once started with just the Born This Way natural finish foundation but expanded it with pressed powder foundations, setting powders, matching concealers, and now highlighters and an eyeshadow palette. They even launched a Born this Way matte foundation very recently.

It’s basically turning into a full collection to create an ‘I woke up like this’ makeup look, which I’m here for! Even though I’ve never tried the foundation before, I did try an example of the Born This Way concealer and I wasn’t super excited about it. However, I was dying to try this palette. As you might know, I’m a neutral lover. I love wearing neutral eyeshadow as well as nude lips. This palette just called my name. Nah, it screamed my name!

Too Faced Born This Way Natural Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

The Too Faced Born This Way Natural Nudes Palette contains 16 shades and retails for $45. Each shade in this palette is inspired by a corresponding shade of Born This Way Foundation. The palette is infused with:

  • Coconut Water: Aids in delicately replenishing skin’s moisture levels.
  • Alpine Rose: Helps empower the skin’s health and radiance.
  • Hyaluronic Acid: Gives a smoother, more youthful appearance.

The palette and its packaging are simple, straight to the point, and pretty sturdy. Nothing too special in my opinion, but just user-friendly. I love how the matte shades are bigger than the shimmery shades since you normally use mattes more than shimmers. I also love that all the matte shades have a matching shimmery shade. But I believe all the shades would look good together.

Even though this is a neutral palette, Too Faced didn’t create a palette with basically 16 of the same shades. Yes, some of the shades might look a bit similar but I feel like there are enough differences for a palette like this.

The description says that this palette includes “metallic, shimmer and sparkle shades” but I don’t see a real difference in their formula, to be honest. If I look closely at the pan, I can tell a slight difference. I feel like Shimmering Pearl and Golden Light have a chunkier glitter so I’m guessing these are the sparkle shades. The difference between the metallic and shimmer shades isn’t visible to me, all the other shades seem to be metallic-like. I don’t see any real differences on the arm or the eyes between the formulas.

The mattes are soft, slightly powdery but nothing too much and beautifully pigmented. The metallic shades are very pigmented and have a buttery-like formula. Both the formulas blend very well together. In every way: metallic-metallic, matte-matte, or metallic-matte, I had no problem blending.

Too Faced Born This Way Natural Nudes Review

I slightly gave it away by mentioning this palette in my favorites of June 2020 blog post, but this palette easily became one of my favorite go-to neutral palettes! The neutral colors are so beautiful! I first thought it didn’t make any sense to make an eyeshadow palette inspired by foundations, but I see the benefit now!

Because of the foundation inspiration, this palette has different undertones. Some shades are warmer than other shades and I really like this variety. Some palettes are so warm-toned that every look turns out to look very similar. With this palette, I don’t have this!

The difference between the metallic shades is barely there, however, I do think the metallic shades in this palette are beautiful as well as the matte shades. The combination between the matte and metallic shades looks so beautiful. The metallic shades lift the matte look to another level.

I can’t praise this palette enough. Even though it might be ‘just a neutral palette’ it is a neutral palette you need in your life based on the variety of the shades, the undertone, the pigmentation, and blendability.

I totally understand now what Too Faced Born This Way collection is supposed to look like and if all the products have the same quality as this palette, I need to try it all.

Have you tried anything from the Too Faced Born This Way collection, what product do I need to try next?

  1. Yes, this palette is gorgeous! I’m really drawn to Truffle and Warm Rose. I can’t visually see shades that I would classify as shimmer/metallic vs sparkle. If it’s shiny, then it’s shiny. I’ll probably end up with this palette at some point.

  2. Oooh! The Too Faced palette looks gorgeous. I love how there are so many different colors and textures! The shimmer looks great. Pretty cool that you get a ton of different shades for that price. Glad you loved this palette! I have yet to buy an extended palette like this @__@. At most I just have the 4 shades from Chanel aha.

    1. I love the Chanel quads, just as I really love the Charlotte Tilbury quads but a bigger palette means more looks for the same or less money lol. This palette is perfect to mix with other palettes though!

  3. I keep seeing this being used on Youtube and it looks gorgeous – I’m half tempted but deep down I don’t think I’d reach for it too much as I think I prefer something warmer!

  4. This is such a pretty palette – I feel like you could create such gorgeous soft-glam looks with this color story. Also, I agree that the metallics don’t really standout from one another but the mattes look lovely!
