The first Tower 28 Lip Gloss launch was a huge hit, mainly because of the formula but the first batch of colors had some awesome, vibrant (but sheer once applied) colors too.

The Tower 28 ShineOn Jelly Lip Glosses were offered in six shades, but Tower 28 expanded its lineup to include four more nude colors.

Their new ShineOn Milky Lip Jellies are inspired by the alternative kinds of milk many of us drink—and are a nod to the healthy, clean lifestyle that is core to the brand’s mission.

Tower 28 ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly
The Tower 28 Lip Glosses are by far my favorite gloss formula out there! Even though their longevity and similarity to each other, I would easily purchase 4x the same shade in this formula because it’s just too good. These Tower 28 Lip Glosses are my go-to for everyday wear when my lips are drier than usual and if I want a shiny finish. I love wearing them!

Pros
  • It is very affordable
  • It has a stunning shiny finish
  • Very hydrating and lightweight
  • Comfortable, non-sticky formula
  • It feels like a lip balm and looks like a gloss
Cons
  • Color is quite sheer on the lips
  • It’s not very long-wearing (but not bad either)

These cult-favorite lip products are made with clean ingredients, deeply moisturizing, and pack on the right amount of shine without being sticky—everything you’d want in a gloss, right?! These Tower 28 Lipglosses even took home the Byrdie 2020 Eco Beauty Award for Best Lip Gloss. I mean, that increases my expectations and yours probably too because what makes them that good?

The moment I saw one of my favorite Beauty YouTubers wear one of these glosses, I believe it was Cashew, and raved about how good these were, I just had to try them. Since I’m the type of person that likes to “go big or go home” I decided to pick up all 4 shades. I needed to know what the hype was about and since I love nude shades, literally all 4 were right up my alley so I went all in. Bottom line: These new ShineOn Milky Lip Jellies are bound to be a hit like the first batch from the brand. Or… aren’t they?

In this post, I’ll be sharing all the details about these Tower 28 Lip Gloss, such as the formula, and how they feel on the lips, I’ll show you swatches and share the things I liked and disliked. So for my detailed thoughts, keep reading the full review below.

What Are The Tower 28 Lip Gloss: The ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly

It’s everything you love about a juicy gloss with none of the hangups. Made with plant-based ingredients that are actually good for you like apricot oil and raspberry seed oil —the same healthy + nourishing oils used in the original Tower 28 cult-favorite ShineOn Lip Jelly. The shades I got are:

  • Coconut: semi-sheer, milky mauve pink
  • Cashew: semi-sheer, milky rosy brown
  • Oat: semi-sheer, milky peachy pink
  • Almond: semi-sheer, milky chocolate

While some of the glosses are named after nuts, it’s important to note that no nut ingredients are present in the formulations so people with nut allergies can still use these glosses.

Things To Know

Don’t stress – zero nuts were used in the making of these lip jellies. On top of that, they’re 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and made in the USA.

About My Lips

Just to give you a little background information about my lips, my lips are 80% of the time hydrated and healthy. I don’t really have specific concerns when it comes to my lips. During wintertime, they can be drier though so to keep my lips hydrated, I typically use creamy, glossy products.

Where To Buy

The Tower 28 Lip Glosses retail for $15 and are available on the Tower 28 website tower28beauty.com, Revolve, Sephora, and Cult Beauty.

Tower 28 Lip Gloss Review & Swatches

I already shared my love for these Tower 28 Lip Glosses on my Instagram a while ago so if you’ve read that, you already know this. I never expected any product to beat my love for the Kylie Cosmetics High Glosses but these glosses actually did and are currently my number 1 favorite gloss.

As for the formula, this is the thinnest gloss formula I’ve ever tried. This means that it is very comfortable and is not sticky at all. It literally glides on the lips when you apply it and it’s also very slippery when you rub your lips together, in a positive way, if this makes sense. It applied evenly to my lips and spreads accordingly as well. The texture is lightweight, not heavy or tacky, and very hydrating to the lips.

These glosses feel like lip balm and look like a gloss, which is something I really like about glosses. I want them to feel as comfortable as possible. Due to the fact it’s so lightweight and hydrating, I feel like it is a little long-wearing. Glosses overall aren’t products with a long-wearing time so I don’t really see this as a bad thing but I wanted to mention it for the people that do dislike this. The glosses stay on for about an hour or 2 on me. Not bad, not great either.

Even though the colors look pretty noticeable in the tube and in my arm swatch pictures, they do look similar on the lips. The colors are semi-sheer, which I personally like in a gloss, but that means that if you put them on the color isn’t very visible. I would say it’s not necessary to purchase all 4 shades because you won’t be able to tell that much of a difference when wearing them (you do see a difference between Cashew and Coconut though).

Alternatives

  • Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss ($22) These glosses are nothing but nourishing, and contain lots of good-for-your-lips ingredients. The clean, vegan formula leaves the lips super smooth and hydrated — never sticky or drying like some traditional glosses.
  • bareMinerals Mineralist Lip Gloss-Balm ($20) – A hybrid lip gloss + nourishing balm. Get the best of gloss and balm in one: sheer color, high shine, and irresistibly soft lips. Loaded with naturally derived ingredients, like sustainably sourced cold-pressed fruit oils, this gloss-balm delivers instant nourishment in a cushiony formula that’s never sticky. Lips feel softer, smoother, and more hydrated over time – even after you take them off.
  • Lilah b. Lovingly Lip Tinted Lip Oil () – an oil-based treatment with the shine and pigment of a gloss. Infused with Bilberry Seed Oil, Milk Thistle Extract, and Vitamin E providing anti-aging benefits. provides sheer to medium coverage with a light, smooth and silky finish.

Final Verdict

The Tower 28 Lip Glosses are by far my favorite gloss formula out there! Even though their longevity and similarity to each other, I would easily purchase 4x the same shade in this formula because it’s just too good. These Tower 28 Lip Glosses are my go-to for everyday wear, for when my lips are drier than normal but also when I want a shiny finish. I love wearing them!
