I have a slight obsession with smaller palettes, just because they’re easy to travel with and because I can fit more of them in my drawer lol. The Dose of Colors Marvelous Mauves is a perfect small palette and includes 5 gorgeous matte shades. I really wanted to try the Dose of Colors eyeshadow formula and so I got this cute little mauves palette. Curious to see if I like it? Then keep on reading.

Dose of Colors has 5 different all matte palettes with different color schemes. The Marvelous Mauves palette caught my intention the most because I really love mauves lately. I also love my neutral shades so Baked Browns is a palette I would love to use as well.

However, I actually do like all the palettes a lot. The only thing that is holding me back from buying the all is that I love a good metallic shade in a palette. I know that I’m buying an all matte palette and I do like these looks, but I end up wanting to add a shimmer to the look almost every time. It would kinda be a waste of money if I would purchase all the palettes because, in the end, I would be looking for metallic shades in other palettes.

This cool toned eyeshadow palette features 5 ultra pigmented matte mauve shades with a smooth buttery feel. The perfect palette for creating a variety of soft natural to playful smokey eye looks.

The shades in the Marvelous Mauves palette are the following:

  • Fluffy – Milky pale pink
  • Rosy – Light rosy pink
  • Wishy Washy – Dusty Mauve
  • Spaced Out – Muted berry mauve
  • Wine Stain – Blackberry

NET WT. 1.7g/0.06 oz each and retails for $32. The palette is cruelty-free, talc-free and paraben-free.

Dose of Colors Marvelous Mauves Swatches

Even though I love the colors in this palette, the shades swatched really patchy on my arm. Especially Wine Stain is super patchy. The shadows are very powdery as well, this is probably to provide us with pigmented shadows. The shadows are pigmented indeed, but patchy.

I’m not over the moon with how this palette swatched but since it’s a product you use on your eyes, I obviously tried out the shades there as well to see how it performed.

I really had to tap off my brush in order to prevent fallout on the face, the shadows did look better on the eyes but I still noticed some patchiness. Especially with the darker shades Spaced Out and Wine Stain.

Fluffy is a really light shade that doesn’t look that good on me when I use it as a crease shade. Rosy and Wishy Washy are both pretty shades but not special enough for me to repurchase this palette.

Overall, I’m disappointed with this palette. The Baked Browns palette performed better than this one. I’m sad that there seems to be some inconsistency between these palettes.

I wouldn’t really recommend buying the Dose of Colors Marvelous Mauves palette, sadly. It’s not super bad, since there is pigment and it looks better on the eyes than on my arm. But I still don’t really like it personally. The fallout was slightly bothering me as well.

Have you tried this palette yourself? What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I am sooo into rose gold! My IPhone is rose gold, and I just ordered a watch, cocktail ring and tote bag from Box of Style, a monthly subscription service of goodies, that is also rose gold! I just can’t seem to get enough of it, lol.
