How To Use

If youโ€™re wondering how best to use these gorgeous shades, let me share some tips straight from our expert friends at NDโ€™s lab.

  • First things first: Prime those eyelids using an eyeshadow base/primer for long-lasting wear and vibrant colors.
  • Next up: The matte eyeshadows. Swipe them on gently with a fluffy brush for a diffused finish, or pack โ€˜em on with a dense brush for maximum color payoff. Remember to blend!
  • Moving onto the metallic & sparkling foiled shadows: pack them on with a soft, dense brush or your finger for an intense look. And if you want that foiled finish? Dampen your brush and then apply.

Things To Consider

Before you dash off to add this gem to your cart, let’s talk about what it doesnโ€™t have: Mineral Oil and Parabens – Nope! Cruelty? Absolutely not! Plus, all these beauties are made in Italy โ€“ Bellissimo!

Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Palette Review

The color scheme of this palette is absolutely gorgeous, and I love that it has more neutral-toned shadows instead of all warm or cool-toned.

I also think that this palette combines perfectly with another ND palette, the Natasha Denona Glam Palette.

Anyway, you might be able to tell that some of the shadows swatched quite patchy, and I have something to say about that, so keep on reading…

Pigmentation

First things first: pigmentation. This palette certainly doesn’t disappoint in this department, especially when it comes to metallic and shimmer shades.

They’re buttery smooth and super pigmented – they really pop on your lids! They glide on like a dream, and boy, do they look stunning.

Now, as for the matte shades… well, they’re a bit more of a mixed bag. Some are patchier than others and can be tricky to blend out nicely particularly the darker mattes.

But don’t get me wrong – it’s not disastrous by any means; just something to keep in mind if you’re new to makeup or have limited experience with blending.

Formula

By touch of both the mattes and the metallics, the shadows feel very soft and aren’t powdery. On application, they’re still not powdery or provide any fallout, which is nice.

However, like I said, the formula of the matte shades is a bit meh. It’s patchy and harder to blend – it’ll work eventually, but it takes some extra work to make it look good. Add the metallics on top, and all your blending problems disappear lol.

The shadows are definitely buildable, especially the metallics will pop with an extra layer. The mattes will get more pigmented, but you have to be careful not to accentuate their patchiness.

Application

It basically all comes down to the patchy shades, isn’t it? Because the application is smooth and easy with the metallics while a little harder with the matte shades.

It’s not too bad, but I do think this palette might not be the easiest palette for beginners in makeup.

Longevity

I was scared that this palette would crease on me quite easily due to the patchy base of the mattes. However, it didn’t crease at all and stayed on perfectly all day!

I’m very happy that it doesn’t crease. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be so happy with this palette. Now, I’m sure I can make it work, even though it takes more effort.

Value

The Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Palette retails for $69, which is definitely a luxury price tag. For a price like this, I expect the highest quality, and usually, Natasha Denona products always perform.

This palette lacks a bit of smoothness with the matte shades, which is a bummer, but other than that, this palette is seriously stunning and does what it’s supposed to do. The metallics alone are worth the price tag, in my opinion.

However, if you want an easy palette of the highest quality for $69, you may want to rethink picking this palette. It’s a fact that it does require some effort while blending.

Alternatives To I Need A Nude Palette

I have to admit that the only palette that came to mind that really is a close alternative is the discontinued/limited edition Makeup By Mario palette that I wasn’t able to get, sadly, and which isn’t available anymore (maybe it makes a comeback one day?).

However, I do think you can create similar looks with the following palette:

Colourpop Stone Cold Fox Eyeshadow Palette

The Colourpop Stone Cold Fox Palette is one of Colourpop’s mega palettes and contains 30 shadows. The palette is called a cool-toned palette, but I do think it has some neutral shades in it as well.

The palette has gorgeous mattes and super pretty metallics, and all come for a price of $35. Basically, you get 15 more shadows for half the price of the Natasha Denona Palette, and the mattes perform similarly to better.

Definitely a great option if you’re looking for something similar to I Need A Nude but for a lower price tag!

Final Thoughts

Well, folks, we’ve finally reached the end of our journey with the Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Palette. And what a ride it’s been! Let’s just take a moment to reflect on all those gorgeous hues and textures.

First off, let me say that this palette is truly stunning. The range of colors is impressive – very neutral-toned shades that are quite unique nowadays, as most palettes have a warm undertone.

Whether you’re into sultry, smoky eyes or prefer something more subdued for day wear, there’s definitely something here for everyone.

The quality? A little disappointing when it comes to the matte shades but top-notch as we speak of the metallics. Those shadows blend like a dream and stay put all day long. The mattes are a little harder to blend due to some patchiness.

Positives
  • Gorgeous, unique neutral color story
  • Sturdy outer packaging (that’s pretty, too)
  • The quality of the metallics is top-notch
  • Soft, buttery smooth shadows
  • Stays on all day without creasing
Negatives
  • Matte shadows are quite patchy
  • A little harder to blend
  • Expensive

Now, let’s talk about value for money. Yes, it might seem like quite an investment upfront – and it is – but think about how many different looks you can create with this one palette alone! If you ask me, it’s worth every penny.

Just be aware that you may need to put in some extra work to blend the patchiness away – but it is doable! If you love the color scheme like I do, you need this palette in your collection.

  1. I don’t know if I told you how much I love your product photos enough times – I’m amazed every time you post something new! <3 The color story of this palette is stunning and I heard to many good things about Natasha Denona's eyeshadows, but because of financial reasons I think it might take a while for me to actually invest in one, especially because there are other high end brands that I find more intriguing at the moment. <3
