I have a pretty insane makeup collection and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Even if you don’t have a lot of products, you’re probably still looking for makeup storage ideas to make sure everything has a place and is just organized. In today’s post, I’m going to help you with that! One of my favorite things about beauty is the actual storage of it lol. Sounds weird but I just love an aesthetically pleasing makeup collection. If you are looking for ways to create this yourself, then keep on reading!
Seeing perfectly organized drawers full of makeup is actually one of the most satisfying things to see, in my opinion. But where on earth do you start with creating these organized and satisfying makeup drawers? In today’s blog post I’m going to share my top 15 favorite makeup storage hacks!
There are several ways to store your makeup and it depends on how much space you have and how many products you own to decide what fits your needs best. I’ve included options for big collections as well as smaller collections, affordable and more expensive ones. It’s whatever fits your makeup storage needs!
Before you start organizing your collection, you might want to do a makeup decluttering session first to make sure you’re only organizing products you’re actually using and which are not expired!
I’ll be mentioning TidyUps quite a couple of times during this post. Mind you that I’m not affiliated with or sponsored by TidyUps. They have previously gifted me a couple of their organizers but I’ve bought most of their organizers with my own money and I’m recommending them just because I really love their organizers for makeup storage.
15 Makeup Storage Hacks
1. Marble Trays
If you don’t have a huge makeup collection or you just want to display your favorite makeup items OR skincare, perfumes, nail polish, etc., marble trays work really well! They’re super stunning to look at and make your collection look organized and luxurious at the same time. My personal favorite marble trays are from H&M but I’ve selected a couple more I’ve been eyeing for a while now (and probably buying ASAP).
2. Drawer Organizers
This is my personal favorite makeup storage. Even though I like to display some items of my makeup collection, most of them have to be stored inside of a drawer. I don’t like too much mess on my vanity so I bought 2 Alex Drawers from IKEA to store all my makeup in. To make sure everything looks neat and organized, I bought a lot of TidyUps Drawer Organizers (these fit perfectly in an Alex drawer!!), HBlife, and byAlgory organizers.
The ones from TidyUps are my favorite because they’re literally made for Alex drawers and fit so perfectly. I would 100% recommend them if you have an Alex drawer! However, many other brands will do so Amazon is your place to go.
3. Acrylic Lipstick Organizers
These were probably the first organizers I’ve bought and I can’t live without them. Every time I open my lipstick drawer I gasp. Just because it looks so neat and pretty. You can use them in your drawers, just like me, or display them on your vanity or any other place. If you pick acrylic, you’ll be able to see the lipsticks so it’s a great way to store your prettiest lipsticks. My favorite ones are from TidyUps and byAlgory but there are tons of other companies selling organizers.
4. Acrylic Lipgloss Organizers
It didn’t take me a while before I added acrylic organizers for liquid lipsticks and lip glosses as well. For the same reason as I had for the lipstick organizers. It makes them look super organized and I’m still loving these organizers to this day. Again, my favorite ones are from TidyUps and byAlgory but there are tons of other companies selling organizers.
5. Acrylic Powder Products Organizers
If you have an Alex drawer you NEED the TidyUps Powder Products Organizers. This is not even a joke, I’m literally obsessed with them and haven’t found any other organizer that fits my drawer so well. I used other organizers before, which also worked but didn’t fill my drawer completely. With the TidyUps organizers, I can easily store all my powder products without ‘not used space’. If you don’t have that many products, just a single organizer for powders will do though!
6. Eyeshadow Singles + Palettes Organizers
I really like organizers that are made to hold eyeshadow singles since those can roll around the drawer if they don’t get stored properly. I also like to store my eyeshadow palettes on their side (not all of them will fit in your drawer though, some of them are just too big or bulky) so I can easily see all my eyeshadow palettes. If I store them on top of each other I always forget about the ones that are on the bottom. Again, I really like the single eyeshadow organizer and the eyeshadow palette organizer from TidyUps but there are other options available on the market too!
7. Storage Drawers
If you don’t have much space and you can’t fit in an Alex drawer, for example, or you just need some extra space these storage drawers might be the solution for you! They’re available in different sizes, colors, and even shapes. These storage drawers look super cute on top of something and they would fit in a bathroom cabinet too.
8. Rotating Organizers
These are quite similar to the storage drawers I mentioned above, however, these are round shaped AND are able to rotate! I mean, they look super luxurious and it’s a fun way to save space as well. I would love to have one just so I can display my fragrances!
9. Brush Holders
Makeup brushes are a big part of doing your makeup, obviously. I think most beauty enthusiasts will have a bunch of them to store. The fun thing about brush holders is that they can be literally anything. Well, probably not anything but we have quite some options. You can buy an acrylic holder designed for brushes but you can also use empty candle jars, a mug, a cute glass you found somewhere, or a little vase. You name it!
Also, a really great-looking option is dividers in your drawers. You can DIY and create custom-made dividers with IKEA or another brand’s dividers but you can also buy dividers if you’re not really into the DIY mood. I like dividers because it’s an affordable solution but still makes your drawers look organized.
11. Makeup Organizer Bag
I mostly use makeup bags when I’m traveling but it could also be a great way to store your makeup if you don’t have a lot of space. There are lots of amazing-looking makeup bags on the market so you won’t have a problem finding one that fits your needs and style! You can also use a makeup bag for the products you’re focusing on and want to pan/empty.
12. Nail Polish Organizer
There are some amazing nail polish organizers on the market that aren’t only perfect for nail polish but could also be used for makeup storage. If you want to display some products or looking for multi-purpose organizers, you’ll probably love a nail polish organizer! Some of them are also created to hang on the wall which could be a great solution if you have a small space to work with.
13. Shelf Storage Organizer
You probably have seen those already but there are acrylic organizers that fit perfectly on a shelf or in a cabinet. My mom uses them in our cabinet! They hold spaces for different products so you can store lipsticks, powders, and brushes in just one organizer. Everything is perfectly stored together but is still aesthetically pleasing to look at!
14. Spice Rack
This kinda works like a nail polish organizer but is slightly bigger so it’s easier to store products that are a bit bulkier. For example, foundations or even fragrances. This is perfect for displaying products or storing products. Again, a spice rack could also hang on the wall to save space.
15. Hanging Shoe Organizer
This one is such a smart way to store lots of your makeup products: just buy a hanging shoe organizer and instead of putting in shoes, you just put in your makeup. It’s easy to access and also looks cute too. Plus I’m pretty sure you can store even more products in there than you think!
That’s it! Hope this will help you organize your makeup collection. Let me know if you used one of the makeup storage hacks in this post!
