I always look forward to the Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collections, but this year was slightly different. I mean, I still looked forward to it, but this year’s Holiday Collection is actually last year’s collection – huh?
For some reason, no Holiday Collection was launched last year, and Kylie herself hasn’t said a word about it, but some products were sold in the UK and got published in Douglas promotional materials. That’s why I know this should’ve been last year’s collection, but they postponed it to make it this year’s collection.
A little less exciting, as I always like how Kylie reveals her collections on her Instagram page – even though she doesn’t reveal them as she once did – but either way, I still grabbed the Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Palette and a Lip Kit. I’m sharing my thoughts with you.
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Review
The packaging of the Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection is reindeer themed, with red and beige colors and snowy details. I really like this year’s collection’s vibe; it’s subtle compared to The Grinch Collection, for example, but still very Christmassy.
Only the Palette and Lip Kit in O’Deer spoke to me, but I wasn’t tempted to purchase any of the highlighters or face palettes. For some reason, I didn’t feel like I would wear them enough – However, they do look pretty for sure.
Pigmentation
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Palette: The palette is pigmented right away, just as well as it is quite powdery. It has glitter, matte and metallic formulas; all three formulas are powdery, but the mattes and glitter shadow the most. Be careful with the fallout on the face, especially with the glitter shadows.
The pigment of the palette was quite equal; however, only the shade Elf Made swatched patchy. This is also visible when applying it to the lids, but it gets better after blending really well. Either way, this shade was my least favorite. I didn’t have any blending problems or notice patchiness with the other shades.
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Lip Kit: Like always, the Matte Lip Kit is pigmented in one swipe. The Lip Liner is creamy, and the matte starts liquid and dries down within a few seconds. You can add another layer for even more color payoff, but this isn’t necessary.
Formula
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Palette: The formula is quite consistent in this palette; most of the shades are easy to work with, as I already said. You can pack on shadows, and blend mattes and metallics easily, and you get quite some color payoff right away. Compared to The Grinch Palette, this one is definitely ten times better!
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Lip Kit: Kylie Lip Kits are one of my favorite long-lasting and non-drying formulas, and this one didn’t disappoint. The formula is lightweight and non-drying, which is most important to me when wearing liquid lipstick. It doesn’t look drying or crumbly either, even after a couple of hours of wearing.
Application
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Palette: Except for the shade Elf Made, this palette is quite easy to apply. You have to be careful and tap off your brush to avoid fallout on the face. You may want to wet your brush for the metallic and glittery shades for the most vibrant payoff and to avoid glitters all over your face.
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Lip Kit: The lip liner glides onto the lips, and the liquid lipstick does too. It’s easy to work very precisely with both of them, and I have zero complaints about their ease of applying.
Longevity
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Palette: Overall, the palette stayed on all day. I did notice that the metallics/glitters faded a little after hours of wearing them but nothing too bad. I didn’t notice any creasing on my lids.
Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection Lip Kit: Both the lip liner and liquid lipstick are long-wearing and stay on for a solid 5-6 hours with ease – it starts to fade slowly from the middle of the lips. Sometimes I still notice lines around my lips from the lip liner. This isn’t so bad with a nude shade, but if you’re wearing a brighter shade like O’Deer or anything else, I had to reapply. Lastly, it will even stay on when you drink or eat, but the liquid lipstick will fade if you eat something oily.
Final Verdict
Overall, I really like this Kylie Cosmetics Christmas Collection packaging, and the products I’ve tried were good. The Lip Kit in O’Deer is stunning and stays on for at least 5-6 hours without drying the lips or looking crumbly. The Palette is quite powdery, and if you don’t tap off your brush, you will notice fallout, but the pigment is generally very good and didn’t crease on me during the day.
