I noticed, though, that there were some inconsistencies when using their Rich Girl Retro palette. It seemed like the polishes might have been exposed to air or light before I got around to test them because they had this odd layer on top that I’ve never experienced before (and nope, it wasn’t just the seal).

The application ended up being a bit more challenging and blotchy than I usually find with Modelones products.

But like I said, I think that this is not the nail polish’s fault. The other Color Cube arrived here safe, didn’t contain this weird layer and consistency, and worked like I’m used to with Modelones products.

Formula

When first applying this solid cream gel polish from their Pretty Unique One Color Cube (let’s put aside my slightly rougher experience with their Rich Girl Retro Color Cube), I found its consistency hit right in that sweet spot—not too thin nor too thick—making even application pretty straightforward. To ensure optimal results:

1. Start with clean, dry nails.
2. Apply a thin layer of Modelones base coat and cure under an LED light for 60-90 seconds.
3. Apply a thin, even layer of your chosen shade from the Color Cube, then cure under the LED light for another 60-90 seconds.
4. If desired, apply a second coat and cure again for another minute or so.
5. Finish with a top coat and give it one final curing session.

I was quite pleased with how quickly these polishes dried under the LED lamp—only about 1 to 1.5 minutes per layer!

Longevity

As far as durability goes, I monitored the wear over two weeks – keeping an eye out for any signs of chipping or loss in shine.

I’m happy to report that after two weeks, there was no sign of chipping! Plus, that same glossy finish remained just as vibrant as when first applied.

The Color Cubes are very affordable and come with 9 shades, which gives you lots of variety for a small price. On top of that, it stays on way longer than your normal nail polish, which I really like about gel nail polish.
