As you can tell, this self tanning product is indeed providing a light to medium self tan. I would say if you apply just one coat, you’ll get a light self tan, and applying another coat will give you a medium self tan. In the picture above I applied just one coat which makes the tan looks very subtle and natural.

If you’re starting out with self tan and you’re afraid you’ll look orange or too tan (which never happened to me when using Bali Body products but I get your fear), I would recommend starting with this product! It’s super easy to apply, the actual foam is white so looks less intimidating (the self tanning mousses have a brown-looking foam), will prevent transferring and the tan itself looks subtle so no need to be scared of the results. Moreover, this tan is also buildable which is a great benefit for beginners. You could apply just one coat, see how you like it and if you decide you want a little more of a tan you just apply another layer.

I personally never had skin irritation after using Bali Body products so I think all their products are pretty safe for sensitive skin BUT I like how they made sure this product would be perfect for sensitive skin, anyone searching for a more natural self tan and very light skin tones. Not everyone wants a very dark-looking tan so I think it’s amazing Bali Body respected that and created a great solution.

My Experience Using The Clear Self Tanning Water

It’s a great product, as always! It 100% works as promised. It’s a zero transfer, easy, clean, and smoothing foam. I had no irritation at all and my skin doesn’t feel dry after applying the self tan, nor does it feel dry after a couple of hours.

It really is a light self tan and even though I appreciate and like that, I personally prefer the Dark Self Tanning Mousse or the Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse. A darker self tan has my preference but that doesn’t mean this product isn’t good. I’m pretty sure I would have been obsessed with the Clear Self Tanning Water when I just started out with self tanning because it’s really mistake-proof. Now I’m a bit more experienced using self tanning products, I just like to work with a darker tan.

I have to say though that I don’t like applying the Dark or Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse to my face because that’s still making me scared about having a too dark-looking face and it being too obvious that I self-tanned. I normally use the Face Tan Water but I would use the Clear Self Tanning Water on my face too. I think this would be a great way to tan my face and give it a nice, subtle tan without it being too much. I’ll test this in the future!
