Since I was looking for a tinted moisturizer for summer that would give me some coverage but also feel like I would have nothing on my face, I thought I would try this fairly new Urban Decay Foundation: The Hydromaniac Tinted Glow Hydrator. Moreover, I have also been into dewy skin lately so this product sounds like it would be perfect for all the things I’m looking for. I got it a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been testing it quite a lot. Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts!

I have been loving the Urban Decay Stay Naked Foundation a lot so my expectations for this new product were pretty high. My latest discovery in the tinted moisturizers range is the Fenty Beauty Eaze Drop Skin Tint so this product had quite some competition. Does it live up to my expectations? Is it a new favorite of mine? Let’s dive into the details first before I give you my opinion.

Urban Decay Foundation: Hydromaniac Tinted Glow Hydrator

Urban Decay Foundation

Urban Decay is describing the product as a lightweight formula that is packed with nourishing ingredients that leave skin feeling more hydrated after 24 hours. It’s supposed to be a buildable, medium coverage, with just enough to look like your real skin, with an added healthy glow that stays fresh and wears for up to 24 hours. Goes great with all skin types, even oily, and is non-comedogenic. Minimizes pores and imperfections with a smooth, blurring effect, while evening skin tone and texture.

The ingredients Urban Decay used for more hydrated skin in this foundation:

  • Kombucha Filtrate: Antioxidant-rich to brighten and Detoxify, Increasing skin’s luminosity.
  • Marula Oil: hydrates, protects, & seals in hydration

The Urban Decay Hydromaniac Tinted Glow Hydrator retails for $29, comes in 12 different shades and is vegan.

My Thoughts

Let me first start off by mentioning that I don’t really think this shade range is great. I think 12 shades is not enough to cover all different skin tones and undertones.

I also want to mention that the name does not fit the description of the product in my opinion. I thought this was a tinted moisturizer due to ‘tinted’ in the name but when you read the description, it actually says it’s medium coverage. Even when I try to use just a little bit of product, I still feel like it has a light to medium coverage so, in my opinion, this isn’t a tinted moisturizer. However, it’s my fault I didn’t read the description well enough before purchasing.

Nevertheless, I do really like this product. It isn’t what I expected it to be, a tinted moisturizer with sheer coverage, and the reason why I bought it in the first place but I do really like it as a foundation. On days I like to have more coverage, I definitely reach for this Urban Decay foundation because it feels lightweight and blurs any imperfections.

I wouldn’t really say that my skin feels more hydrated when and after I use this product though yet it doesn’t feel like it’s drying out my skin either. It does a great job at evening out my skin and texture, but I don’t think it’s really minimizing my pores. Just like it’s not drying out the skin, it also isn’t accentuating my pores or texture so that’s great. It’s also a long-wearing formula and stayed perfectly in place all day long (even when I was sweating like a pig due to super hot weather lol).

I’m not sure if this is just me, but I don’t really see a glowy/dewy finish when I put it on and haven’t used any product on top of it yet. It almost looks like it’s mattifying instead. I can make it look more glowy by applying cream products (cream bronzer, blush, and highlighter) but I feel like that’s not how it’s supposed to be. However, I’m not really sure if this is due to the fact that my skin has been so dry lately and easily absorbs hydrating products. Maybe it’s like absorbing the hydration from the foundation? I don’t know if this is possible though lol!

Even though this Urban Decay Foundation was not what I initially expected it to be, I really like using this product and the way it performs!

Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts? Does it look glowy on you? lol. Let me know in the comments!
