There’s one thing I love most about beauty and that’s putting products to the test. I want to find out if a product is a hit or a miss. In my beauty reviews, you’ll only find 100% honest thoughts and opinions, so you know what beauty product is worth spending your money on. In today’s post, I’m putting the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde eyeshadow palette to the test. Keep reading for my in-depth review including swatches.

Huda Beauty has been a brand I always liked but I wasn’t obsessed with it. I’ve bought the Mauve Obsessions palette and Wifey Liquid Lipstick before and liked them but that’s it.

My real Huda Beauty obsessions started when I bought the Nude Obsessions palettes. I fell in love with them and especially the eyeshadow formula from Huda Beauty. I decided I had to try the bigger palettes too.

I took myself very seriously because when Black Friday sales started, I immediately bought three Huda Beauty Palettes lol. I held back at buying Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde because it wasn’t discounted. I don’t know when or how it happened but all of a sudden I got a discount code from Sephora and immediately bought this palette. In a small period of time, I now own all the Huda Beauty bigger eyeshadow palettes lol.

The Huda Beauty palettes normally retail for $65 but the Mercury Retrograde palette retails for $67. I don’t know why this palette is slightly more expensive though. I think the palettes are pricey and that’s why I decided to buy them when they got on sale.

Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

The Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette swatched like a dream. I did expect this though since I really love the formula of the shadows. The formula is slightly powdery but very pigmented.

The only shades that disappointed me a bit are Ultraviolet and Mercury since they weren’t as pigmented and metallic as I expected them to be. However, I still think the colors are pretty. Especially the swift in Mercury is in my opinion very beautiful.

Vortex is the only shade that swatched slightly patchy but I haven’t noticed this when I applied the shade into my eyes.

Off Balance and Crash are both my favorite matte shades in this palette. Cosmic, Nebula and Gold Glitch are my favorite metallic shades in this palette.

The color story of the palette is a little bit all over the place when you first look at the swatches, but the colors work together very well. Moreover, pastel colors are in this Spring so this palette fits the trends perfectly.

I love how easily blendable the palette is on the eyes and also how versatile the colors are. There are so many different looks you can create with this palette.

Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Eyeshadow Palette Review

Overall I really like the Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde palette. It’s not a typical palette I buy a lot so I love this addition to my collection. It adds some color to my collection as well as my makeup looks.

The formula is amazing and definitely one of my favorites, the shades blend easily, are very pigmented and the overall quality is very good.

At first I loved this palette but after a while I got a bit frustrated with it, the shimmers take too much layering and the mattes change color once you put them on the eyes. They become too pastelly for my taste, I know it’s a pastel palette but when I go for Off Balance (for example) I want a more muted shade instead I get a bright pink. The looks never turn out how I envisioned them so it’s frustrating and way too expensive because of that

I thought I experienced the color change on my eyes too but I thought I was just crazy lol, good to know you have this too. It requires a bit of adjusting when applying them to the eyes when it comes to envisioning the look, which shouldn’t be the case.

Ah I love this palette, too. I haven’t experienced any of the color shift issues yet, but maybe I need to test this out more to see if that occurs. Also, I feel like my love of Huda Beauty kinda snuck up on me too lol. Like I loved the Smokey Obsessions Palette from her, but then the more I tried the more I was impressed. Now Huda is one of my fave brands!

I’m not too much into makeup as my skin is so delicate but have seem this palette everywhere!! It looks so pretty – thinking about investing into getting one ❤

It’s good to be careful if you have really sensitive skin. This palette would bring you lots of variety! 🙂

This is a palette that I have been seeing A LOT over the past few months. I need to admit that the packaging and the shadow colors are really pretty! The reason I have not yet purchased it is that I’m not sure how much use I would get out of it. These are not colors that I typically gravitate towards. $67 on something that might collect dust is not justifiable to me. If I found this palette at half the price or less at a store like TJMaxx or Marshalls, then I would probably give it a try. That way, if I decide to donate it later, I won’t feel so bad about it haha.

Loved reading your review. Also ohhhh, I love pretty looking palettes. Would love to add this one to my collection as it features tons of colours I love to use, but the price, ouch. I guess I will just look at the photographs and dream. 🙂

I love wearing pastel colors, but I never tried them out in terms of makeup! The colors are beautiful although I don’t know how well I would be able to use them.

Great review! The palette looks amazing and the colours are so pretty, but it’s not really my taste when it comes to eyeshadows.

Your swatches are divine. They make me so happy because they’re so neat and pretty lol. I really like this palette and like you, I love the formula of the Huda Beauty eyeshadows. The New Nude Palette is one of my favourite palettes of all time! I only didn’t get this palette as I think I have all of these shades already (with the exception of Mercury). It looks gorgeous though and I bet you can create some beautiful looks with it
