Mario Dedivanovic is one of my favorite makeup artists, and I have always loved the looks he created for Kim Kardashian and, of course, many other celebrities. So far, I’ve tested most of his products, and I am a fan of the brand. Now, with this concealer, I’ve heard mixed reviews. Some love it; some hate it. This always makes me curious so I have to see for myself!

In this review, I’m putting the Makeup By Mario Concealer to the test; is it any good? Does it replace any of my current favorite concealers? I’ll let you in on all the tea about this fairly new product.

I’ve Tested Lots Of Concealers, So You Don’t Have To

I’m a beauty editor and expert who has tested and thoroughly reviewed thousands of products over the past eight years. What once started as a passion for (new) beauty products and chatting about them is now this site, which is full of honest product reviews, beauty tips, and much more. All products reviewed are tested by me and on me for a while so I could share what I liked and disliked. You can read more about my review process here.

To streamline the testing process, I use a testing methodology to score a variety of categories on a scale of 1 to 10. The Makeup By Mario Concealer was scored based on the following criteria:

  1. Ingredients
  2. Application
  3. Coverage
  4. Finish
  5. Longevity

Makeup By Mario Concealer
The Makeup By Mario Concealer is a very decent concealer. Is it my favorite concealer ever? No, it isn’t. But does it do its job? Yes, absolutely. It brightens my under-eye area and makes my dark circles disappear quite a bit, but I still see some blueness poking through.

A Quick Look At The Makeup By Mario Concealer

Makeup By Mario says that this is a pro-performance, multi-use concealer that visibly lifts, blurs, and brightens the under eye and complexion for an awakened appearance with a natural, skin-like finish. Formulated with Lift & Lock™ technology, the caffeine-infused concealer depuffs, tightens, and smooths while the self-setting formula locks it all in, resulting in a lifted, awakened look.

There are 22 shades available, ranging from light to dark.

About The Ingredients

When reviewing the ingredients list, my eye falls on the inclusion of caffeine and squalane. Squalane is known to maintain hydration and elasticity in the skin. Caffeine is known to depuff the undereye area and make it tighter. Both ingredients are nice to have in a concealer!

If we look closer, the concealer is also vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free. Not only that, but it’s also free of parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, sulfates SLS & SLES, triclocarban, triclosan, and contains less than one percent synthetic fragrance.

The Makeup By Mario Concealer doesn’t contain harmful ingredients such as parabens or fragrances or any allergens such as gluten, is animal lover-friendly, and contains skin-loving ingredients. It sounds very promising!

The Results: Makeup By Mario Concealer Review

The Makeup By Mario Concealer is a creamy, water-based concealer that has a natural-looking finish. Before I dive into the details, I first wanted to talk about the Lift & Lock™ technology. While I agree that this concealer is self-setting and gives an awakened look, I’m not really sure about the depuffing, tightening, and smoothing claims. To be fairly honest, I don’t see this.

The Application

The Makeup By Mario Concealer is thin and lightweight but does have good light to medium coverage. I do see some of the blueness of my dark circles through the concealer after one layer of product. I usually add a little bit more/a second layer to reduce this even more, but as I said, this is not a full-coverage concealer, so I still see some of that blueness through it.

Either way, this concealer brightens the under-eye area and gives me more of an “awake” look, if you will, which I really like and that I always look for in an under-eye concealer. I picked shade 120, which is one of the lightest shades in the range and slightly lighter than my skin tone, so it automatically brightens a little.

The Coverage

The coverage is nice, but I would say it’s light to medium coverage instead of medium coverage. Unfortunately, it doesn’t cover all the blueness of my dark circles. Typically, I would opt for a little bit more coverage.

Even though I like the formula of this Makeup By Mario concealer, I wouldn’t use it to cover blemishes—not even if I had a darker shade to match my skin tone. Why? Because of the coverage and the thinness of the product.

The texture is thin like I said before, but it is also quite watery. This makes sense if you watch the ingredient list because the first named ingredient is water. This is not a bad thing in my experience; I didn’t notice extra creasing or smudging because of this, for example. However, due to the thin and light coverage, I don’t think this would cover up blemishes properly.

The Finish

The finish is soft-matte and has a natural look. I do see a tiny bit of creasing after a few hours, but nothing too much. It also settles a tiny bit in the fine lines after 4 hours of wearing. But overall, I don’t think this is really noticeable to others, and it doesn’t bother me that much.

The concealer does brighten the under-eye area and gives a fresh look.

The Longevity

You can barely feel that you’re wearing a concealer, and it also looks very natural. I haven’t noticed much creasing – not even without setting powder, which is think is a really strong benefit of this concealer – and once the concealer is blended into the skin, it stays on. No smudging, no fading, no crumbling – nothing. Just a tiny bit of creasing/settling into the fine lines after 4-5 hours of wearing. But, as I said, it’s not that noticeable for others.

What I noticed during the day was that it started accentuating my dry areas a little bit after 2 hours of wearing it. So, this may not be the best concealer for people with dry skin.

pov: you found that lightweight, medium coverage and brightening concealer 🥹 For who’s this concealer? – you prefer light to medium coverage over full coverage – you like watery/liquid (not running) formulas – you have normal/combi/oily skin – you have dry skin but not so much around your eyes (it can slightly accentuate dry spots or patches) – you want a non-drying, non-creasing concealer that gets rid of most of the dark circles/blue tones under your eyes. #concealer #makeupbymario #makeupreview #darkcircles #brightening #makeuptiktok

Final Verdict: Is The Makeup By Mario Concealer Worth It?

The Makeup By Mario Concealer is a very decent concealer. Is it my favorite concealer ever? No, it isn’t. But does it do its job? Yes, absolutely. It brightens my under-eye area and makes my dark circles disappear quite a bit, but I still see some blueness poking through.

It’s definitely long-wearing – it stays on for 8-9 hours – but starts to accentuate dry areas a little bit after 2 hours. It creases/settles into fine lines after 4-5 hours, but just a tiny bit, which isn’t really noticeable for others. Overall, I think this concealer works for you if:

  • You prefer light to medium coverage over full coverage;
  • You like watery/liquid (not running) formulas;
  • You have normal/combination/oily skin;
  • You want a brightened, more “awake” look.
