RMS Beauty Blush was instantly added to my wishlist when I saw this on Trendmood’s Instagram account. After it was launched, I saw many people sharing it on Instagram and talking positively about it – I became even more curious.
What makes this blush unique? Is it memorable and a must-have for your collection? How does it apply? So. many. questions! And I’m going to answer them all in today’s review of the RMS Beauty Blush in the shade Hanky Panky.
RMS Beauty Blush Hanky Panky Review
When the RMS Beauty ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush in Hanky Panky arrived, I was a little bit shocked by the color – it looked darker than I expected it to be and I was scared that I couldn’t wear it with my light skin. Either way, the color itself is absolutely stunning and unique in my collection!
The packaging is sleek white, with the logo on top and a mirror inside, which is handy for travel. The embossing of the actual blush is fun and looks great. Another thing I really like is that this blush/compact is refillable, making it easier to grab the same shade – or try a new shade- for a discounted price while being sustainable too.
Pigmentation
The RMS Beauty Blush is opaque; it is not highly pigmented with one swipe but has enough pigment right away. I like this in a blush because it’s better to build up the pigment to avoid mistakes. It is also the reason why I think light skin tones, like myself, can also wear this gorgeous plum shade.
Plum shades can be too dark quickly for lighter skin tones, but thankfully, this one isn’t! I dab my brush into it, tap the brush off and apply it with a light hand for a gorgeous soft flush of color. If I want more color payoff, I repeat the same process. Very easy to use because it is so buildable and easy to blend.
Formula
The formula feels relatively dry when touched with your finger, and before application, this worried me a bit. I have dry skin, and a drier powder formula on top of my skin often doesn’t look so great. However, I didn’t notice anything from this when I actually applied the blush to my cheeks.
It didn’t accentuate dry areas, texture, or pores at all, and it’s not looking powdery either. It feels lightweight, as I don’t even feel I have anything on my cheeks, and it gives a gorgeous luminous finish. As this luminous finish looks natural, I’m sure both dry and oily skin can pull this off without looking greasy or too shiny.
Application
I prefer applying the RMS Beauty Blush with a fluffy powder blush – for example, this Real Techniques one – for the most natural results. If you want more color payoff immediately, you can opt for a denser blush brush. However, building up the pigment with a fluffy brush works well too.
The blush is effortless to apply; just dab in your brush and apply it to the cheeks. It blends into the skin easily and looks flawless after a tiny bit of blending. It is a beginner-friendly and/or mistake-proof blush!
Longevity
The blush stayed on effortlessly all day – as if I hadn’t worn it for 8 hours. It looked like it was freshly applied all day long. Its staying power is fantastic – definitely a long-wearing blush, no touch-ups needed, perfect for all-day wear!
Alternatives
- bareMinerals Blonzers: Formula-wise, the Blonzer formula feels more smooth and is more pigmented right away, but the finish is very similar to the RMS blushes. Both have this gorgeous luminous finish – if you’re looking for a dupe, here you go!
- Melt Cosmetics Powder Blushlights: The drier formula of the RMS blushes made me think about the Melt Powder Blushlights, which is basically the same to the touch and lightweight on the cheeks – and this formula is also excellent, just like the RMS blushes.
Final Verdict
Overall, I think the RMS Beauty Blush in the shade Hanky Panky is a gorgeous plum that is new in my collection. It can be worn by many skin tones and skin types, even lighter skin tones and oily to combination skin – even though it has a luminous finish. The finish is the thing I like most about this blush; it looks so natural!
The formula feels dry when you touch it with your finger, but you don’t feel this when applying the product to the cheeks, and – most important – you won’t see it either. It doesn’t look or feel powdery and doesn’t accentuate dry areas, pores, or texture.
Even though it’s a higher-priced blush, I think the quality is worth the price. On top of that, you get a lot of product, so it’ll last you a decent amount of time. And once you empty it, you can easily purchase a refill instead of a new compact for a discounted price!
