I’m always in for a new MAC lipstick formula so I was super excited to try the new MAC Love Me Lipsticks and see if they’re any different, better, or worse than we have already seen and tried from MAC. At least the packaging with the ombre black to pink effect is super cute. Now let’s find out if the formula is unique and worth the splurge.

I’ve always liked MAC Lipsticks and I do own quite a lot of them. I’ve tried basically all the different formulas MAC has when it comes to their bullet lipstick so I’m happy to be able to compare the formulas and see if we have a new winner in town. If you’re curious to read my experiences with the Mini MAC Lipsticks and/or with the Powder Kiss Lipsticks then go ahead and read those posts after you’ve read this one, obviously. 🙂

Things To Note

MAC Cosmetics’ statement on their website about animal testing: “M·A·C does not test on animals. We do not own any animal testing facilities and we never ask others to test on animals for us. While some governments conduct animal testing to prove safety before they will allow us to sell our products, M·A·C has never tested on animals and we continue to be a leader in the movement to end animal testing globally.  To this end, we are proud to partner with IIVS (INSTITUTE FOR IN VITRO SCIENCES) to expand the use and acceptance of non-animal testing methods worldwide.”

MAC may not test on animals in countries where it isn’t required, MAC does sell their products in China which is a country where animal testing is required by law. As you can tell by the bold line in the MAC statement, if it is required by governments they will test on animals and thus makes them not cruelty-free.

MAC does have a recycling program: MAC accepts returns of its primary packaging through the Back To MAC Program. By returning six MAC primary packaging containers to a MAC counter or MAC Cosmetics Online, you will receive a free MAC lipstick of your choice as a thank you.

MAC Cosmetics sells its products on its own website maccosmetics.com, Nordstrom, Ulta, Beauty Bay, and Selfridges.

Review

This new MAC Love Me Lipstick formula feels very nice on the lips, even though I never had one MAC lipstick that wasn’t comfortable. The finish is pretty much satin to a matte-looking finish on the lips, which I think is pretty, but as you can tell in the picture when the light hits it you can see a more creamy finish.

The lipsticks are pigmented with one swipe but I like to apply at least 2 layers for complete coverage. Even though the formula is pigmented already, it is also buildable to get even more color payoff. 2 or more layers will still look and feel good, comfortable, and lightweight.

The lipsticks feel nourishing, even after a couple of hours of wearing them. They stay creamy and soft, so they’re comfortable but not transfer-proof. Their longevity for a bullet lipstick is good, 3-4 hours without eating. It will transfer and fade when you’re eating/drinking but you won’t get harsh lines or crumbling pieces on the lips.

I wouldn’t really say that this formula is unique compared to other MAC lipsticks, I think I’ve tried pretty much every bullet lipstick formula of MAC, and all of them are comfortable. The main difference might be the finish but the overall quality is always amazing in my opinion.

My favorite shade is Laissez-Faire as this is a gorgeous nude for me, a ‘my lips but better’ kinda look which I love! But the other two shades are definitely very pretty as well. I like to dab Hey, Frenchie! onto my lips on days that I don’t want too much coverage but still want a little extra than just a nude lippie. I like the effect!

Final Verdict

The MAC Love Me Lipsticks might not be unique, but they’re very comfortable, nourishing, and pigmented. Their average longevity is 3-4 hours without eating or drinking which I think is good! The shades available are pretty, a lot of variety, and a shade for everyone. Just keep in mind that these lipsticks aren’t transfer-proof but if you’re looking for a comfortable lipstick for daily wear, check these beauties out!
