Fenty Beauty explains their lip gloss line: “Our best-selling Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer enriches lips from within so they look instantly fuller, with a non-sticky formula thatโs super shiny and looks good on everyone. Ultra-comfortable with conditioning ingredients, Fenty Beauty lip gloss makes you want to put it on, on repeat. - Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Cream: The original Gloss Bomb formula but now with pure, creamy color and incredible shine. Lips are instantly smoother and more voluminous-looking. Medium to full-coverage colorโand zero shimmers.
- Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat Universal Lip Plumper: The Gloss Bomb Heat lip luminizer and plumper hybrid deliver a hint of tint and fuller-looking lipsโthanks to an innovative Plump Job Complex. Itโs the O.G. Gloss Bomb you loveโฆbut a few degrees hotter.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Review
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb formula is a superb gloss formula; it doesn’t matter which one you choose. However, everyone has their preferences, so I’m sure you’ll like one more than the other, just like I do. I wanted to make this comparison because it’s not the question if the Gloss Bombs are good; the only question is which one you should get.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Review
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer was one of the first few products Fenty Beauty ever launched, and it’s still a best seller. I get why! The formula is indeed non-sticky and very comfortable, leaving the lips super shiny due to the gorgeous shimmer finish. The shimmer is visible (not too much), but you won’t feel them.
The shade Fenty Glow is described as a shimmering rose nude. Even though I can see the rose nude vibes, I would say it has a slight peachy tint. However, that isn’t really visible on the lips – the gloss gives just a hint of color and a high-shine finish. Due to the added shimmers, you truly get a lot of shine and I personally love this effect.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Cream Review
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Cream in Fenty Glow is, right of the bat, more pink in my opinion. This is the rose nude shade I expected to see with the Universal gloss. Either way, both shades are in the same color range for sure. Due to the pigment of the Cream formula, the gloss has quite some more color pay-off compared to the other two Gloss Bombs. It doesn’t have any shimmers and has an opaque finish.
Even though I like how this is a more pigmented version and shade of this awesome gloss, I don’t think it made my liks look more voluminzed. I also don’t think it was that shiny when I had it on my lips. Probably because of the missing shimmers, or maybe it’s just a tad bit less glossy than the Universal Gloss Bomb.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat Universal Lip Plumper Review
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Heat Universal Lip Plumper in Fenty Glow looks very similar to the Universal Gloss Bomb, but without the shimmers. Instead of shimmers, this is a plumping gloss which means it has that tingly feel to it. The formula warms up, thus the name Heat, and it starts to feel like your lips are burning. I’m personally not a fan of this feeling, I prefer an icier feeling lip plumper.
Even though this isn’t my personal favorite formula, I can see how this gloss is plumping. Especially on my top lip, I can see a difference as it is definitely a bit more plump and bigger looking. Due to the warm, tingly plumping effect, my lips turn a bit more red which adds some extra color to the whole lip look. The gloss itself isn’t really pigmented, just a sheer glossy tint.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bombs On My Lips
My favorite Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb is the Universal Fenty Glow. In my opinion, I think this one gives me the most voluminzed looking lips and the prettiest high-shine finish. The Cream formula is more pigmented, but has less shine and doesn’t look really volumizing, whereas the Heat formula gives me plumped looking and shiny lips but is less comfortable due to the tingly warm effect. Based on the formula and it’s promises I would rate them like this:
- Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal
- Fenty Gloss Bomb Heat
- Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream
If you’re into a glossy plumping effect, I’m sure you’ll love Heat. If you just want high-shine, voluminezed but comfortable lips you want to opt for the Universal Gloss Bomb. If you’re more into pigment and don’t really care about voluminezed lips, go for Cream.

Alternatives
- Tower 28 ShineOn Lip Jelly Lipgloss: The Tower 28 Lipgloss doesn’t have any shimmers in them but provide a high-shine finish either way. They’re similar in color pay-off to Universal and Heat, quite sheer, but is exceptionally comfortable, lightweight, and non-sticky. They have less of a plumping/volumizing effect, though, which is slightly different compared to the Gloss Bombs.
- Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss: The High Gloss formula is very similar to the Gloss Bombs, in my opinion. I also think they’re comfortable, non-sticky, and relatively lightweight. Maybe slightly thicker than the Gloss Bombs, but nothing too much. The High Glosses are available in versions with or without shimmers, and there are lip-plumping versions of them, too, so I’m sure you can find a great alternative!
- Glossier Lip Gloss: Another option if you’re looking for a glassy, high-shine and nice lip gloss is the Glossier Lip Gloss. It’s more affordable and comes in a couple of different shades. A con is that Glossier isn’t easy to get for European beauty lovers.
Final Verdict
The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb formula has been one of my favorite formulas since the moment I tried them. After testing out Heat and Cream, I realized how much I loved the Universal Gloss Bomb. It might be the first of the lip gloss line, but it’s still my favorite one.
It’s one of the most beautiful high-shine finish glosses that is also comfortable and non-sticky. If you’re in doubt or looking for a basic but bomb gloss, pick Universal. If you prefer more pigment, opt for Cream and if you love some tingling but plumped lips, go for Heat.
